Ummmmm

Steady hand, good brush point, take your time dont rush, make the first line very thin and do the whole design like that, then just keep widening the lines until its the thickness you want and nice and smooth.
If you wobble the smooth it out by thickening the line a bit.
On the assassin one which is the first time Ive done scrollwork like that I strayed a bit with the colouring so tidied the job up with black after.

I\'m just beginning to play around with more involved freehand, it might be interesting to hear where other people actually started trying freehand of their own (since when you begin, it\'s often someting you get wrong at first).

I started by trying to find a way of doing Space Marine tactical markings without having to rely on having the correct transfers, especially handy for me as I buy most of my models on ebay.

After doing 4 or 5 squad\'s worth of Ultramarines symbols, Dev chevrons, Tactical arrows & Cruxes I I started doing simple geometric shapes & filling them in. I think it\';s easiest to begin with stuff lke this, straight lines are much easier than long, flowey ones, so stuff like arrows & boxy shapes are a good place to start.

I often use inks for freehand, since you often need your paint to be as thin as possible, while still retaining a strong colour, I find inks are usually perfect for this kind of stuff.

Best of luck :)
