Many pets... many pets. I\'ve had many pets. Where to start? There\'s a dozen stories for each of them....
Most recent: Two budgies, Lord Deaton Le Mauve, and Harley Quinn (coloured purple and white-with-black-mask respectively). Both male birds. Deaton seems to be bisexual, if not wholly homosexual.. but that\'s beside the point...
The vanishing budgie: Deaton, in his early days of flying after his clipped feathers grew in, wasn\'t so hot at landing. He missed his perch, and flopped down behind the dresser, and disappeared for nearly an hour. We pulled the dresser out, looked under it... no budgie. We pulled out my computer desk (right beside the dresser). No budgie. Gone.
Finally, we abandon the search, and he walks across the middle of the room, instead of flying, and hops from place to place to get back into his cage in the kitchen. No flying for him for 3 days after that. At all. He refused.
We never did find out where he went, though.
Great Dane: Not my pet, but a funny story. I love these dogs above all others, but some of them are just plain stupid. No concept of their size, whatsoever.
I\'m visiting a friend, and he\'s in a temporary house (renting) while waiting for his new home to be built. This place has a mouse problem, and the Dane likes to chase them. We watched as a mouse raced across the room, dog in hot pursuit, and the mouse races into a hole in the wall. *WHAM!!!!* The 155 pound Great Dane tried to follow. The whole house shook. The dog sat down, shook its head, trotted back across the room, and tried again. *WHAM!!!!* Knocked himself cold on the wall.
Back to my pets....
Snowball. Part collie. Part Golden Lab. And either the smartest dog to ever walk the earth... or the dumbest. We\'ve never been sure which. He was better than television, though, when we put him in the work/game room, which was right across from the stairs into the basement. Whenever someone came down the stairs, he\'d start jumping to see through the little window, who it was... with that great huge dog-grin on his face. My friends and I would often sit on the stairs and just watch him bouncing, tirelessly, up and down to see us laughing.
This dog also walked out onto our swimming pool, and sat down in the middle, in mid-spring, when the ice was too thin for any of us to follow him.
Ate the wallpaper in our kitchen. Would walk himself if we let him hold the leash. \"I\'m holding the leash, so I can\'t get away.\"
