Future Golden Demon entry 2010 Baltimore

Just wondering, it's it a bad idea to advertise what you are going to enter into a painting competition on the one website that most of your competition is probably a member of?

I'm not a fan of the loincloth, it looks rushed compared to the rest of the model. The base, what we can see of it in the pictures looks uninspiring as well. I also thought you mentioned changing the hair. To me it looks the same in the first pic as in the last pic.

@ gilvan i hope i didnt give anyone an edge by posting these pics :O i dont expect to actually win a demon with this so i dont mind who sees it.

ya the loin cloth does need some work as does base. and i havent gotten to the hair but tahts why its a WIP, hopefully i can change your mind with a few more updates.

I dont there is any need for personal insults, if you post for comments- then accept them good or bad.

there is a difference between constructive critism and the condesending message that blight left. its was just a string of pompous negative comments. he got what he deserved imo

i dont see the problem to advertise this is for a painting competition. quite the opposite, now people know what standard flunk is heading for. and i think most of the people here are mature enough to help each other anyway, its a hobby and its all about having fun after all!

I like the small bit of blue! I think it actually works better than if you'd painted the whole loincloth blue. What are you planning for the crest on the helmet?

I'm really liking the weathering on the armour BTW.

Guys... not beeing here for three days and your are starting a flame without me? Shame on you.

And yes, why he should not wirte, taht he wants to enter? I want to enter someday too, that is not so bad... Why shouldn't he ask for comments, when he needs, or want too?

So flunkUtron, dont care about such comments...

But... you startet to paint one of the ribbons blue. What do you think, to paint all cloth in this color? It is a nice contrast too!

Greetings, Taggi

*** update, still a TON of work to be done on this guy. I paint really slow i need to research some new techniques to pick up the pace. Some people on this site are capable of painting 9+ in less than 20 hours, HOW??, methenphetamine probably.... anyway im probably going to be crucified for painting the loin cloth beige/brown instead of something else but I kinda like it. Putting more emphasis on that cloth will just make everyone realise how bad i am at sculpting so i left it beige teee heee...

and as for that necron lord, thats my little sister Beth who is 6 who decided to join me in a painting session one day for her first mini EVER!!!. Notice the beautiful colour composistion and the glazing on the cape. Look out yellow one/automaton/ giganticdark you got some competition

More from me and beth to come....

I'd say you probably have a chance. I am not a better painter than you but I think the gun needs more color as does the base and lioncloth. I like the muted (?) colors on the Eldar. Very good. And posting your minis shows some people how bad they will lose :)

Very good. You should add some contrast though. Your sister has lot of talent. I'm looking forward to see some work of her in 2 years.

Very nicely painted. The loin cloth though, also well painted, but wouldn't it be in favor of the overall appearance if you painted it in the same color as the cloth around his thigh?

i think it is good that you are looking for comments, you will have a better piece by looking for feed back

the tabbard is really bothering me. it is too close in color to the rest of the armour so you dont see any difference. YOu could just wash in some blues to the recesses. or if you want to start over with bleached bone then go back with vermin brown dark blue mix down to a dark blue scorched brown mix.

vermin brown is a very orange color to match with the orage armour and the blue will help get a little complementary color into the mix.

i really like the work so far.

@ Cocanour i completely agree with you. I sometimes look at it and wonder wtf i was thinking. I just started layering it bleached bone one day, one thing led to another, and BOOM! a dull tabard. Ima go back and carfuly make it blue, the way it should have been done. I hope the excessive layering doesnt give it that glossy plastic look. Thank you man! Any more ideas would be appreciated
