I think this got missed the first time.

I posted this originally in Ebbonbudda\'s thread, but I will re-post it here, both because it is still on topic and because it was one of my more rational moments. ;)

Actually, when it comes to GW, that would still be a lot of work. They would have to post a list every few days...

They should just \'force\' their retailers to buy a digital price list, with an uplink directly to Citadel. This way, we can watch the prices go up in real time. :D

I was just reading the April issue of Harbinger a few minutes ago, and it had a very sad blurb about GW not making their \'pojected sales plan\' for this quarter (someone get me a violin). This new increase was probably in reaction to that; since they are losing customers to other games they must now make up the 16.67% loss of sales by increasing prices on their \'loyal\' customers. Anyone with any sense whatsover can see the outcome of this business model, they will continue to lose customers and they will continue to jack up the prices to make up the difference which will in turn cause them to lose more customers...

You get the idea. Unfortunately corporate big-shots live in a fantasy world and don\'t understand how it works in the Real World! The only way they will be able to stay afloat and increase their profit-share would be to lower prices and make the game more accessible, creating a broader customer base and making up the loss with quantity.

Stupid Gits, they need to get their heads out of their collective arses!

GW bites

That is exactly one of the reasons I quit playing their stupid games. I mean, yeah the price of tin went up, but GW started switching 98% of their models to plastic, AND raising the prices! Also the games themselves are far too convoluted and vague to play and enjoy. Too many games have had numerous rules arguements during them to the point where I\'ve just had enough. Warlord and Warmachine are soo much more enjoyable and my group hasn\'t had anywhere near the issues that we have with GW games. And the Reaper and Pivateer Press models are so much better and WAYYY cheaper then the GW ones. I honestly haven\'t had any desire to pick up a GW product since I\'ve quit and I don\'t see one coming over me.....now if I could just get Leopardpixie to paint my armies for me.....

When the prices went up last time I said Id quit if they went up more. Ill see if they affect the prices here in NZ as it hasnt always changed here but if it does I will bow out of GW. Its a real shame as I like their games and most of their models and started my wargames career with them. I consider myself a loyal customer but even I am out on this latest rise.
I await their imminent slump and possible collapse.

Maybe I\'m just nostalgic, but...

The worst is the plastics thing. Anymore almost everything GW makes is plastic, and costs more than metals from other games. That pisses me off the most.

Don\'t get me wrong, I love GW\'s figures, at least the older ones. RT and 2nd edition figures rocked. I\'m sure many of us wouldn\'t be painting minis today if it werent for them. I feel it all went south when they started getting big with the plastics, though.

Piss on GW. Thank God for eBay. All the good models are OOP nowdays anyways. :flame:

Yeah, this is crap, so on, so forth. GW still has cool models and cool games; the fact that they are ridiculously overpriced seems to fall by the wayside when the newest codex or army list launches and everyone\'s oohing and ahhing over the new models. I\'ve gotten out of playing GW games simply because I like painting more and don\'t have the patience to paint complete armies before I want to move on to something else. As long as they keep making cool models, I\'ll keep buying the ones that interest me.

The simple answer is for people to stop whining about it, and vote with their wallets.

Play Warmachine, Ragnarok, Void or Urban War if you need a gaming fix!

Don\'t forget Warlord, Mr.Munkie. Reaper\'s own game system. They\'ve been producing some fine minis for it, especially their Overlord stuff (I\'m partial to undead).

Edit: I almost forgot about Wargods of Aegyptus, great stuff! I just ordered a bunch of Basti.

And another...

Mongoose publishing have a large array of miniature based games. I have bought \'Gangs of Mega City One\' and \'Starship Troopers\' and they both look like quality products. Starship Troopers, I believe, was written/designed by Andy Chambers who was easily IMO the coolest guy who used to work for GW.

PANCAKE MOTHER?&§$ERS!!!

Am I the only one to remember the \"GW rant drink\"? Cheers to y\'all!

Well, I own two rather complete GW armies, and any stuff that\'s added is minor, so I can get it on ebay or as a gift from friends who get discount... :D
Well, that\'s GW\'s own fault... losing customers doesn\'t come as a wonder to me. I was seriously considering starting a Tyranids army, but now I think it\'s gonna be some nice, fluffy Wolfen for me... (My gaming buddies are gonna kill me... :) ) Off to ebay!

Wolven are really cool...

I think I slightly prefer their more sisister cousins though...the Devourers.

If you want to keep the \'Nid\' theme. Take a look at Starship Troopers, if you haven\'t already....their \'bugs\' are very \'niddy\' if you see what I mean. Plus, with Andy Chambers on board, you just know the gameplay is gonna be up to scratch;)

Yeah Andy Chambers was one of GW\'s increasingly rare successes, always enjoyed playing the games he had written. Starship Troopers does look pretty good.

Have just seen the new Wood Elves in the new White Dwarf (the last of my subscription from nearly two years ago) and they do look pretty good but, I won\'t buy them. £18 for a regiment:flame: kids won\'t be able to afford an army like I could back when I started.

Use the ST bugs as \'nids...

..lots of alternative models for nids out there. The Void Koralon line makes for some nice switch nids, too.

You may get banned by the redshirts and shunned by the fanboys, but what an army you\'ll get out of it.:D

GW is evil...

Yeah, I\'ve had a chance to play the Starship Troopers game at a shop and it was actually very good. The rules were explained pretty clearly (although I haven\'t had a chance to look at the book and see if they\'re written as vaguely as the 40k crap is) and it worked out nicely. The bugs are BRUTAL in hth, but if the Mobile Infantry and shoot the piss out of \'em before they get close they don\'t have a shot. Pretty nice balance.

And like I said, we\'ve mostly been playing Warmachine and Warlord rather than 40k, and we\'ve all enjoyed them far more than anything GW.

Psycho Redshirts and retarted Blackshirts are the reasons I stopped going to GW stores to play a looooooooong time ago. The local one in So Cal has a gang of idiots that go there all the time and actually have a gaming \'clic\' that pretty much runs the place and woe to the person who isn\'t in it that tries to win a tourny there. *shrugs* like I said, just got tired of the all the hassle from those kinds of people. now we just play games where the participants remember that we\'re supposed to be playing for fun.

It\'s sad to see that all those people that are complaining all the time about GW prices actually BUY their crap. If you don\'t like the prices, like me and every other sensible person in the world, then don\'t buy it.
Boycot their paints, their silly brushes, their rulebooks and their models all you want but if you don\'t like their prices STOP WHINING. if enough people start acting where their mouth is and stop buying their low quality plastic mubo jumbo then it would force their prices down again. It\'s simple supply and demand.

*raises hand*

Did you miss that fact that I said I\'ve stopped playing GW crap?

I\'ve been systematicly switching the local game store to Warmachine and/or Warlord. I\'ve gotten about half of to see the light...

Sith...

Mr Dred may not have been responding to your post specifically..

It\'s a problem I have always had myself and have been enormously embarassed by on occasion...

One of the problems associated with \'fast\' forums :bouncy:
