Games Workshop July PRICE HIKE!!

I was just laughing today about the water effects and the tubs of basing material. The tubs are $8 US; that\'s the same price as the homongous containers of Woodland Scenics flock etc.

I too am glad that I only paint these dudes and not build armies or play.

*yawn* this does seem to be happening a lot lately, I remember a couple of years back wondering why \"B\" and \"C\" blisters were both the same price, an easy way to put \"C\" and upwards prices up without repricing stock!

I myself buy a lot of GW figures but I think that\'s mainly because I\'m a tournament addict and despise taking the same army to 2 tournaments!

As has been previously mentioned though this kind of price hike can\'t last forever, GW are still eeking the last amounts of profit out of LotR (new mines of moriar game :wow: ) but hey there are plenty of other great figure ranges and games available so I\'m not going to get TOO upset about it

Alternatives

I too, always wondered why alternatives really do not seem to go over big with the WFB crowd.

Take for example these guys:

http://www.oldgloryminiatures.com/content/dwarfwars/Dwarfwars.asp

Now I happen to own a set of their elven bowmen (HE equivalent) and in the box came 5 different poses with different headgear, nice command figs and a really good level of quality. I have not painted them yet - among my many other projects...

You get 24 figures for $40 and they are pewter not plastic. However, you do not hear much about them...Anyone out there have some input?

i sort of work in the business, the company i work for creates the toys for burger kings happy meals, so i know how much a sculpter, illustrator, packaging designer, creative director, etc costs....i also know that the cost of plastics has gone up over the last 6 months, and that you have to eat that cost somehow, but i have also realized that gw\'s new plastic is cheap, the older plastics were much softer and made from better plastic, the new sets i have bought are really hard and brittle, try scraping with an exacto blade and you will see what i am saying...i know they need to make money but 5 bucks more for a box of plastic is rediculous.....

I was looking at the old glory miniatures site and it looked okay and then something really struck me:
The wizards set ($9) is the exact same wizards set by Ghost Miniatures that I bought from New Wave Games a while back ($5.40) - even had the same ID #.

Comparing the dwarf lines I would much prefer the Ghost minis to the Dwarf Wars stuff, and they are much cheaper.

edit - upon further examination they appear to be mostly the same minis. Go Ghost.

Funny thing...
I mentioned this last week.<-----
Now, a week later, it is a hot topic. Go figure.

Just buy other miniature manufacturers stuff. I regret being a fanboy for so many years. I missed out on some really good stuff. :(

The greedy Goblins at GW are once again screwing their patrons by raising already rediculous prices to the height of lunacy! Effective July 6th Games Workshop is asking the public to bend over and take another price hike. Here is a link to the details. Long story short every $30 box set gets raised by $5. I may not be able to make a difference, but I am boycotting all GW products (Reaper Paints are better anyway ;) ). Please speak out and express yourself as you see fit.
