Hello CMON Forum,

Have been coming here for some time and a big fan but never seemed to make it far enough into the forums!

Here\'s my first bash and showing a WIP here, hope you like it. Sorry I didn\'t start it earlier in the process, next time!

Mr. Color Gloss Black base and then the Mr. Color and Gaia Notes Dark Yellow and Middlestone mix for the main color, adding in white and yellow for the highlights. Weathered with Oils, Vallejo Acrylics and Humbrol enamels. Chips are done in 3 stages with the lightest color a mix of Vallejo Dark Sand and Lemon Yellow, medium chips with Vallejo Chocolate Brown and the deepest and darkest chips with Humbrol Matt Black. No real reason for changing to Humrol except that I wanted to use it for something different but it is handy if you want to wipe it off as the thinner doesn’t harm the underlying acrylics at all.

Will finish up with some pigments and so on when I match it up with the groundwork.

Groundwork for the vignette is a comedy of errors but might turn out ok. Foam for the base, Pla-Plate for the edge but will definitely use a thicker sheet next time… 3mm FoamBoard for the pavers and bricks in the junk and some “rippled” plastic sheet from the architecture section of a local art store. The earth sections are sculpted with Mr. Clay and have had a Games Workshop Rhino tank rolled through it for the tank tread marks. Rocks are from the 100 yen store and are for fish tanks, sand is left over from my wargaming days and the lightest dust on the pavers is Acrylic Stucco mix from Liquitex. Wood chunks are 1mm balsa broken into shape and rubble dust is from the bottom of the bag of plaster concrete bits and pieces. Posts are Evergreen styrene, drums and telegraph pole are from Tamiya 1/48 scale and the wires are 0.3mm brass wire.

A small squad of FireWarriors on the way, should get this moving over the coming weekend.

Thanks for looking,

Next up I’ve painted the groundwork. Loads of fun, so many colors and it starts coming to life!

Tamiya Semi-Gloss Black thinner with Tamiya acylic thinner was hand-brushed over everything and once dry, Tamiya German Grey airbrushed over leaving some black showing in shadows and a nice damp sheen showing through. The groundwork earth areas received a light drybrush of VMC German Camo Beige and then numerous washes of very dilute Vallejo colors including German Camo Beige, US Field Drab, English Uniform, Brown Violet, German Camo Pale Brown and Chocolate Brown. Metal pieces were painted with mixes of red and black Vallejo paints with the drums having VMC Russian Green stippled on with a mix of Russian Green and VMC Dark Yellow for highlights and interest. Bricks were painted with Panzer Aces Light Rust and wood with VMC Tan Yellow. The pavers with VMC Dark Grey with odd stones picked out with VMC Neutral and Basalt Greys. Some light highlights on the pavers with Tamiya Enamels Buff, Deck Tan and Light Blue mixes and together to add variance. The telegraph pole is also drybrushed with these same paints to help bring it together with the groundwork but still work with the overall yellow of the tank.

Although I made 3 FireWarrior figures, I preferred the composition with just one because I can get the vehicle to hug the ground and it’s the closest to the image I had in mind. Not finished yet, base painted down with a custom mix of VMC Middle Stone, Dark Sand, Lemon Yellow and White for the armor and VMC Grey Green for the fatigues highlighted with the base Armour mix to keep the overall look. I really should take a photo with one for scale for those not familar with GamesWorkshop Heroe Scale. It’s called 28mm and they stand roughly as tall as 1/48 scale figures but are more stout and slightly exaggerated for effect.

Next tonight I’d like to try and match up the figure with the tank a little more. I don’t mind how it looks for a quick figure but it still seems a little clean for how dirty the vehicle is.

Thanks for looking, hope you enjoyed.
