gas prices soar..will it effect miniature prices?

it may raise the price of metal? if enything i thought it would effect plastic more? i thought the metals were easier to maintain and used less oil in making them? plastic uses oil as a part of making the plastic itselfe and not just for coating molds and such doesnt it? you know i never thought of it but now that you mention it things may be interesting?

Regardless if it is in the production or the shipping, or the warehousing. All of those industries will see rising costs because of oil/gas prices. Miniature manufacturers will have to pay more for some of those. Of course, business can\'t just eat the higher costs, so they pass that on to the consumers.

Wolf, the last time the metal prices went up was due to another factor but I was speaking to a lady today at one of the more expensive gas stations here $3.29 for regular..and she said it would also effect electrical prices..so it got me thinking and hoping Brian our moldsman wouldnt break the news to me when i reorder..but it definitely crossed my mind..importing exporting it will cost from the foundries..so i gaurantee it will.. id about wager on it..but one id hope to loose

And that says a lot about us. Our entire lifestyle is predicated on cheap transport - everything from cargo ships to bring us cheap plastic shit from China, to driving our minivans and Excursions five blocks to the nearest convenience store (or five miles to the mall). Gasoline is up to $1.35/litre in my town - that\'s a 40% hike from a week ago, and more like >50% from a month ago. I\'m sure it will go down, but it will not go down to \"only\" $.95/litre again, I\'ll bet.

Fortunately we should have a nice stockpile to carry us over until this Crisis is over.lol

If the gas or electricity shuts off we are all in DEEP do do. Our society hangs on a very small thread. It really wouldent take much to bring it all crashing down. The wrong thing in the wrong place at the worng time and poof - lights out.

Not much risk with electricity. oil isn\'t used to make electricity.
But life without oil would be interesting. Might get boring though. Hard to go from one place to another. Well at least we\'ll still have computers and internet

In my town between 1.36 to 1.45 Euro per litre. 6.45 to 6.89 US dollar/gallon. This is for \"regular grade\" (don\'t know how that works in the US but it\'s the most common petrol type used).
Prices go up and down all the time and prices have rissen dramatically in the last years. Not much of a surprise since demands increase worldwide. With more economies developing (like China) we are going to have to share feul with more people all the time. Same with steel and other stuff. Let\'s hope this gets people more motivated to use resources more effeciently. And develop means/methods to do so.

Whenever oil prices go up, oil usage becomes more efficient, so in the long term the oil cartelles are really shooting themselveles in the foot whenever they do a new price hike.
sebrush, yep I agree but with minis going up I dont think I can ever recall them going down in price unless being discontinued..gauranteed if the prices on metal ever dropped drastically the prices would remain the same..minimaker im told china is due to the fact that metal went up as they have purchased many tin mines recently.

Arthur, oil is used a LOT in making electricity. Gasoline of fuel-switching power stations are quite common, and it is also used in what they call \'composite fuels\' by spraying over coal to make it more efficient. Euro countries should not be too affected since the catastrophic downfall of the dollar has made oil much more affordable for them than for the US but pretty much everybody else is affected.
Not only will oil prices affect directly some prices, but they have a domino effect on pretty much everything. To counter this and keep the inflation down, the various central banks and federal reserves have put up their rates liek there is no tomorrow. This will also have a negative impact on the miniature prices (along with bread, computers, condoms, and all good things in life)
