Mini painted for the first round of Iron Painter II at Wyrd. This mini fell to the brush of Wargriffon, but it is my first time at a good old rust effect since I used to weather Lionel train tressels some (OMG) 30 years ago. A mud effect is also on the lower portion of the clothing and the sack and dirt effects cover the rock outcropping.

i really like the rusty blade. i think the wood and cloth could use some deeper shadows though. your getting much better, keep it up.

Yes I agree with the cloak. I had a slight problem which I realized half way through the painting. The theme was weathering. That meant mud for the cloak. I realized that mud is several layers of brown, and the cloak was likewise starting to look like a lot of brown and it would be hard to tell the shadows from the mud. I probably should have used a different color for the cloak so I could have had a two dimensional shading thing going, one for the mud and one for the shadows.

Of course what you don\'t see because I corrected it was the \"bloody tooth.\" Careful I was to apply the red of the eye, but the first attempt had the brush hit his left canine tooth.

He looks good. I agree that darker shadows on his cloak and hat would be nice. Sorry, but I think the rock outcropping looks funky - it has an almost \"layer-cake\" feel. On the other hand, my basing skills pale in comparison, so keep it up!

The blade looks great, what colours did you use for this?

The base coat was a metalic boltgun metal. A dark red paint and an orange paint was spraingly used (more dry dabbed then dry brushed) and some light brown glases toned the whole thing down. I just realized that the orange was from a one of the paints that literally survived the ages because it was well sealed. It came from a line called \"create a finish.\"
