I did a WIP like this last year and failed miserably after very little time, but once again I have that post Golden Demon fire in my belly and really want to get some entries done. Rather than being secretive about my entries I\'ve decided sod it, I\'ll probably never get any of these finished anyhow, I might as well have a timeline of my failure! Updates here will probably be sporadic at best, but you never know.
If anyone should steal one of my ideas though, I do have ties with the Cosa Nostra, so don\'t think there won\'t be some really unpleasant reprisals!
I\'m aiming for four or five entries, and hoping to manage one of those at the very least!
I definately won\'t be entering 40k Single, Warhammer Single or LoTR single because I just don\'t feel the mini miniature vibe right now. I have ideas for 40k Squad, 40k Vehicle and Warhammer Regiment, but 2009 would be more likely for them.
This leaves 6 Categories that have my focus right now: 40k Monster, Warhammer Monster, Diorama, Duel, Large and Open.
So...
Flagellant Swinging A Fish!
During my GW employment I was told that if you were to break Warhammer into as few influences as possible, it would be made up of a little medieval history, a little dark fantasy and a fair smattering of Monty Python. Bearing that in mind, what could be better than a Flagellant with a huge fish full of spikes?
This is an idea I\'ve had for ages and I drew this concept sketch back in... 2005 perhaps.
Well I got up really early today and was ultra bored, so I started to mess about with Super Sculpey. In a couple of hours I had completely finished, baked, sprayed and inked this rough of what an Open category attempt at this could be like.
As you can see it\'s very raggedy and abstract, his left hand is posed completely unnaturally (but that\'s what practice runs are for working out right?), it\'s missing details, it\'s rather big and it\'s become a bust!
So questions:
Good idea?
Good pose?
And the biggie. Should I make it as a bust, which would limit it to the Open category only, or do a full body model including legs (and probably shrink it a fair bit too) which would mean I could put it in the Open or Large categories?
I think right now I\'m veering towards doing a bust, but the main factor in that is I\'m a bit scared of how good a job I can do of accurate posing of a full model that is this dynamic.
Oh, and I started out on some Iron Warrior Daemon prince stuff a while back. Well I\'m starting over on that one, making it a bit more rooted in Chaos, with the intention of it being a 40k Monster attempt.
It may not end up being their still living Primarch Perturabo in the end, I\'m not sure. But anyway, here\'s a concept sketch I whipped up for him.
