Natalya did indeed do well. Her unit of space wolves was my pick, but the dark angels chaplain had a ton of great freehand and that swayed the judges.

Scott Bowser had a unit of Harlequins that were really nice. He took silver in 40k unit.

Jessicas entry was beautiful- I have to ask what colors you used for the red skirt, it really did look like silk.

I took gold in fantasy single and silver in LoTR single.

Thank you Zach, and to everyone for their support! I\'ll get pics up of my entry as soon as possible. I was a dunce however, and left my camera in my car during Games Day, so I didn\'t get photos of any of the other entries. I\'m sorry I didn\'t get the chance to chat about your Dark Elf- I loved your basing. I had a bit of a drive through DC in the evening and couldn\'t really stay much beyond the awards.

Jessica ,as much as we all love teasers from the show, knowing that quality photos will appear here and other sites on the net with in days makes it less of an importance to see blurry pictures taken through scratched up plexy glass that should of been tossed years ago. (Not saying your pictures would of been blurry, just that you shoulnt feel so bad :))

I more like to see pictures of the tables and other things at the events and of people who were there.

I forward to seeing pictures of your entry here on CMON as with everyone elses.

Okkk. This was my first demon so my impression of the whole process is rather mixed but the link first, impression later. Apologies first as well - the file is very disorganized. I tried to group minies in folders but it turned out that flickr allows to have only 3.

Now... i went with the rest of NYC crowd and normally it is ~4hours trip assuming no traffic.
The standing joke among people in NYC is the possibility of bus breakdown on the way... well WHAT DO YOU KNOW... IT HAPPENED :cussing:
about 20 minutes into New Jersey one of our buses started to spew smoke and in general looked like successfully intercepted space hulk on his last dive. Anyway we got out and played some small game of 40k while they were getting us second bus. Considering it happened second year in a row these \"side of the road\" 40k games are becoming a tradition (reflected in pictures with a shoe as an impassable terrain defended by brave guardians)

Demon itself. Personally I think that the number of people was not very large (for the painting competition, that is) and judging was very fast. Light was subpar and what was worse very uneven prom place to place. My bias toward 40k minies as you can see from my pictures is mostly because fantasy and LOTR were in corner section were the light was worse. Second problem - display cases were incredibly scratchy. that really screw up autofocusing. Judging itself was good (or at least without surprises) with the exception of 2 categories - but I am biased here.

Personally, well NYC crowd believe that i did pretty good for the first demon. I was submitting mine in 4 categories - 40K single, 40K squad, 40K large/vehicle and open.
All made first cut and all 40k categories got a \"honorable mention\" - whatever this is.

PS is somebody wants these images - yell, I have them uncropped and much bigger sizes as well

Thanks Dave!

I think I\'ll be bringing them both to GenCon this year, there are a lot of small details on the witch elf that will be hard to photograph.

Of course I\'m assuming you\'re going to be there!

Congrats to all the winners! Also a huge shout out to the guys I actually met in person. It was great to meet you in person too Zach, you are one of my long time heroes of paint. I hope to make it to GD Baltimore in time next year... super bummer...

Mike was the sad story of the day- drove up from NC (6 hours!) but didn\'t make it in time to enter. :~(

I saw his bikes and they were really nice!

It was a pleasure to meet you Mike, I\'m sure we\'ll talk again.

Zach,
Yes- we\'ll be back at GenCon this year. Looking forward to hanging out some more.

That is a sad story about Mike. A 6 hour drive is rarely a pleasant endeavor.
