GD Baltimore 2009??

Some super crappy demon pictures...I got a few of the winners...Sorry they are not better.

Oh, and contrats to arogers and ansel for getting their first demons...its a hard thing to do so kudos to you guys for \"bringin it\" this year!!!

Here is a couple shots I took before the show. The Avatar was my 40K Large entry...it got gold and FW best of show honors. The Masque of Slaanesh got gold in Fantasy single and Galadriel got Bronze in LotR single. The other models were to show in the Demon Lounge...I\'m leaving for ReaperCon in a couple of days so I may not have proper pics up of the avatar for a couple of weeks. These were all done with a flash so they may be kind of wonky!! Sorry!!:D

Oh, and thanks to Jessica Rich for sharing such a wonderful lunch with me (PBR, baby!!!), and many thanks to Meg Maples and Jay for going to dinner (and for showing me the beauty that is a BLT with a 1/2 POUND of bacon...*drool*). I know you two could have gone with anyone you wanted, and I\'m honored that you allowed me to share your company.

They do;). Have you ever been in Baltimore?
Imagine medium size aviation hangar with the ceiling about 3 three stories tall. Now, on the ceiling you have an array of evenly space daylight lightbulbs. All the way up there.
Add to this scratched and dirty Plexiglas cover that reflects each and every lightbulb
from above. Now to deal with this you either have to step back and take pictures from a distance (this is what Aaron did), move close and maneuver yourself in such a way that light bulbs from above reflect
away from the miniature you are taking picture of (good luck trying to find such a spot if the miniature is in the corner), finally you can stick you camera directly to plexiglas - this works ok but impossible for larger miniatures.

or you can just wait coverage from the Stuff of legend.

What is worse that sometimes you cannot see color of miniatures. For example now, looking at Aaron\'s pictures I know that Dylan\'s hound was actually dark red (before I only suspected this)

Yes I have been to Baltimore, though probably not since 2004 or so. I go to Chicago now for the US and then when I can afford to jump the pond to the UK or to France.

There\'s no way to make this sound PC.

Are there any other pics of the Slayer Sword winning unit, because the ones on Solegends aren\'t terribly mind-blowing.

I\'m willing to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, I\'ve seen some fabulous models in competitions that really don\'t look very good at all in the coverage.

I\'ll back up my Canadian brutha Jericho here. I checked out the link and was really underwhelmed. Better pic\'s please!

Also, how old is that guy who won the sword? He looks about 12!

In no way am I suggesting they\'re not an incredible unit, but if I was scoring that unit on CMON from the pic I\'d probably eightify it. They\'re gotta be better stuff out there. \'Course I can always just be patient and wait for WD to carry the coverage....

He\'s 19...barely. :)

The unit looks MUCH better in-person. I\'ve been watching Dylan build it over the past few months, and not only is it painted fantastically, it\'s got loads of character. I suspect it\'s the quality of the conversions that won him as much as the painting.

The sick thing is that\'s a unit from his army....he has 3000 points of Chaos all painted to the same level. AND he\'s a full-time student in the honors program at a Big 10 University. Oh, and he\'s a nice guy, too.

None of us are really sure how he has time to do everything he does. I suspect he has a group of orphans chained in his basement who do much of the work. :)

Ok everybody i loved gamesday this year was off the hook! iim happy i won my demon but most of all learned alot from todds class and made some new friends! cant wait for next year and im going to toronto prob! whos going?

Woland is right....Dylan is a painting god!!! I don\'t think the photos will ever do those models justice...its really something you have to see in person. I know thats not what anyone wants to hear but its the truth!!! And yes, we teased him all night at dinner that he looked like he was twelve...and kept asking when he was going to graduate from middle school!!!!

Crazier still, Dylan was using that unit in his games at Adepticon. There is ton of Golden Demon winning elements that army. Least to say he took home best appearance with the army which is a huge haul of prizes.

Hey everyone. I know I don\'t post up on CMON very often, but I just wanted to say that IMO that this year was much better than last year. It didn\'t feel as cramped and food was great :D

GD was very busy with LOTS of mini\'s. Grats to all those who won. Maybe I can have a shot next year if I practice my painting alot :p

What I loved most was that I was able to sit down and chat with some of you guys in the demon lounge. Getting feedback from you guys about my entry and just picking your brains was awesome. I really hope that GW does the lounge with you guys again next year.

Great to see your Masque figure gettting the demon it deserved! Should have got it last year...(which GD did you enter it in again?). The Avatar is absolutely stunning too.

So Meg showed you my new favorite BLT huh? I hope you got one because it was the best BLT ever and may be the main reason I come next year!

Dirty no problem on going to dinner with you. Dad and I love spending time with you. You\'re funny and well you feign interest in my dad\'s stories ;) So of course he loves you!

Now if only I can get a picture of the mini dad was painting to show that even GW knew he\'s a cool guy who loves crossbows! And he loves Empire as well. It was a perfect mini for him to paint

Hey... I *like* Jay\'s stories!! Although I think you\'re much cuter when you tell them... ;)

You are NOT chopped liver, dear... though I do hafta admit... that BLT was pretty damn sexy... And the bacon tasted GREAT (the smidgeon I could steal without pulling back a nub of a hand...). The only way it would have been better would have been to wash it down with an ice-cold PBR... :D

(I know, I know... I love crappy beer... everyone has a vice...)
