I\'ve seen a thread for LA and Baltimore, but none for sweet home Chicago!

I know I\'m going, and trying to get some stuff done now, though it hasn\'t gone so well... got married a week and a half ago, and now I\'m moving! That leaves me a month... yay~

Who else is going? Anyone know if any of the painting big guns are gonna be there? So exciting~~

Not me! I already spent money I don\'t have on plane tickets to Toronto for GD Canada. Sorry :D

If the Slayer Sword winner types would kindly steer clear of 40k Single, I\'d like to improve in my 3rd place performance from last year lol

Ok, fine... You can have the slayer this year :p


I\'ll be there to defend... absolutely nothing! I\'ll bring a doodad or two, didn\'t find time to paint much this past year. But it\'ll be fun to meet and chat with fellow painters, looking forward to that!

lol I kinda feel bad after saying that, I was looking forward to oggling some brand new Vincent Hudon minis. I didn\'t get to see the last one in person, since I was entered via the regional qualifiers.

I\'ll be there. Last year was my first GD and I managed to squeak off an honorable mention, so I\'ll be trying to improve on that.

I loved the amount of narrative you packed into that one! It was one of my favorites from the show.

I\'m pretty sure I\'ll be there. I have a model I *might* enter. Dunno, though. It doesn\'t have a chance to win, but maybe I\'ll bring it to LA to have Lili and Aaron look at it and tell me how to improve it.

Of course...that assumes I finish it... *sigh*

Since I\'ll be doing demo panting at GD Canada, I\'ll bring the terminator just for you! me sure to identify yourself to me! :)


...sorry now back to GD Chicago...

I\'ll be there too! Again with a doodad or three. I\'ll have something large this time, if it can fit on the plane...

Not had so much time to paint this year for a number of reasons.

I finished a figure for Warhammer Fantasy Single and am in the process of doing one for 40K Single.

I don\'t know if I\'ll be able to repeat last year - my first ever Games Day - by winning another Demon, as I imagine the competition is going to be very stiff. I\'m happy with the work thus far, though, and I think I have improved on my painting from last year.

Is there any planned get-together at the convention center, by any chance?

If I can manage to pull off a miracle and finish my phoenix guard squad, I\'d be mega happy... I imagine the competition will be super crazy, Chicago seems to be the most competitive out of the US~

Jim and I will be at GD Chicago. I\'ve been working on multiple projects, one or two of which will end up waiting till next year. :rolleyes:

Just last night, I finished....wait....still have one last Dark Angels symbol to paint on my Apothecary\'s shoulder pad....d\'oh.
Then I\'ll be finished with my Command Squad, and working on their display base.

Can I finish my Empire General in 7 days??? We\'ll see.

Chicago Hobby Store

As I\'ll be visiting Chicago for the first time Friday July 25, could anyone recommend a hobby store? If you were to only go to 1 hobby store (wife factor here), which one would it be? Is there a worthy Battlebunker, or an independant retailer really worth the stop?

Thanks for the tip :)

I\'d say the main GW bunker in Downers Grove is a good stop... I like to go hang out in there sometimes... the other hobby stores I like are a little farther from the city, in the Joliet area..
The bunker is only about 20-25 mins at most from the convention center..
Cant wait to see your work this weekend!! :beer:

We\'ll be at the Battle Bunker in Downer\'s Grove on Friday. It seems it will be a meeting place of sorts for pre-GD visiting.
There\'s a great burger joint across the parking lot (I don\'t mean the Burger King either :) ).
