Ta mate.

I heard you getting some advice on weathering from the chap handing your entry back - I'd recommend checking out the AK Interactive streaking grime paints. They give a very nice rain mark and rust effects.

Sneaks off to have a look for a potential idea for next year

YAY! I made the finalists with my Dark Angel Veteran in 40K Single. This is the first time I entered a GD and so i am VERY pleased with this result. Hope I got noticed by some? I found a picture of my model at www.fullrepent.fr:
And like some of you, I intend to meet up with a load of you guys (and girls) next time, chat up a bit, maybe even learn a thing or two, and have some beers as well. Who knows?

Great job Dims - really wanted to get a closer look at this one but could never shoulder through the crowds.
Thanks Avelorn and CMDante, for the kind words. I intent to do some better pics this weekend, and post them on my blog - and probably here too!
I have been massively inspired by all contestants, what great stuff I've seen. Keep it up guys! I'm learning like *&^&%$ :D hahaha

I got finalist pins on 4 of my 5 entries but no demons. I'm not sure but there seemed to be very few finalists in the 40k monster catagory, at least there only looked to be about 6 in the cabinet unless there were more elsewhere. If there were only 6 then it makes me feel a bit better as one of them was mine.

Overall on the day it seemed like there were fewer people, which in a way was nice.... less fighting through crowds. Could be due to a lot less participation boards and the sales area being a separate portion of the arena. Bar the queuing fiasco at the start that worked rather well and it made for a more pleasant experience.... although having only 100 copies of Promethian on sale meant that unless you were first in the queue you didn't stand a chance, especially if you were on a GW bus that gets delayed. Would have been far better to effectively raffle them off to anyone who had bought a BL book. I haven't looked but I bet a fair few copies made there way very quickly onto Ebay.... at a very inflated price.

As for completing the Demons list Adrian Bay aka Vincenti got the Silver in large scale catagory. This is the only catagory which I did not agree with the order of merit as IMO Adrians model was the superior paint job of the three. GW make a big thing about "it's the paint job and not the conversion(if any) that counts" yet Adrians Kroot on Krootox was a beautiful display of blending and colour selection. Don't get me wrong the winning Death company marine was nice in it's way but did not display the same level of painting.

Someone who did get it just right was Angelo Di Chello who picked up 4 gold demons ( yes that's right 4) and a bronze as well as the Slayer sword. He'd have needed an extra suitcase to get that haul back home. Anyone who wants to know how to win a demon... look at how he painted his entries because that is what the judges are looking for.

I was actually the first in this year, so it wasn't too much of a crush, which was nice. I managed to get a copy of Promethean Sun, which is still sitting on the side sealed!

I made finalist this year, in the only cat I entered, Single Warhammer Fantasy model. Happy overall, infact I was only aiming for Bronze this year. Not been to a GD for 9 years so used this more as a learning experience to see what sort of things the judges look for. Got good feedback about my entry. It was photographed for the GW site until I do it myself this is it.

Yup one went for £71 and £80(ish) I believe.

And I agree with the Kroot - both me and my brother thought it was the best model in the large scale cabinets.
