The reason I will go there again is for all the good people I met there. I had great chats with a lot of people. Most of you are so friendly... I was in a rather strange mood that day, because of everything I exerienced so I can\'t tell if I repayd your friendly manner in a proper way. Just so you know it, it was you guys (and Adrian without Internet.. :D) that made my day. I hope you show up next year as well!

The GD area wasn\'t crowded when the large mass had loosed interest, I got to see some of the winners very up close. especially the open category ones. when the lighting was poor on one side because of sunshine it was excellent on the other side.

I think the cabinets was too poorly lit, I think that is why people tended to lean forward to be able to see anything. I know I did. (sorry) I tried to be fast when there where other people around, but some people just stood there, often with big cameras shooting picture after picture. (hard to get a good shot I presume) When there were good lighting there was no problem looking at the minis from a distance.

Genererally I had a great time, and I\'m prepared to go next year as well.. but then I will go one week before and be at the Euro Millitaire as well.

oh and Orb, if you meet up with Adrian give him a cheers from me (or a big round of applause). He was not only one of my favourite painters there, he\'s also a top bloke! (and so are you! :))

all the best, Sven

congratulations.. to alll the winners and finalists. i am so glad to see the best gd. the level was so high and the simpathy of all the painters was brilliant ( specially kaple, seth, mark, matt, jacob and joe) . i want to know more good painters as banjo (congratualtion), margo, spacemonkie, yellow one...etc. :D. i had to make \"the chicken without head\"dance on the podium because it was a promise that i made to friends. lolsee you in barcelona...the bulls come back to home:D

I hope they do put out a fantasy miniatures book as opposed to the GD pamphlet that cmae out last year. Maybe next year I\'ll make it into the winners enclosure though to make first cut and be a finalist in my first ever GD was a big surprise.

It was my first GDUK, and I must say that I think GW did a good job, considering the amount of people.

Thanks to all the great (and nervous) chatting with all the other painters before and after the Demons where handed out. Especially Mark and David could have opened a crisis center right there in Birmingham, handing out relaxing drugs..(probably eating half themselves, and me eating the other half). Great seeing you again, and that goes also to Matt and Joe.

Thanks to Luis for doing another chicken dance, and thanks to the rest of the spanish team, #%!\"&¤!! you got some talent going on down there! Great meeting you Albert and good meeting you again Iago.

Lastly I will say congratulations to all the winners and finalists, I think the standard was amazing.

See you again in Paris...

got an unexpected gift too! He gave me a Salamander Dreadnaught from last years comp (didn\'t place). Great to have something to look at the quality of painting, and guage where you\'re going, so to speak. Adrian is a TOP bloke.

Great to catch up with you as well Mike

Ooooh you got a pressie huh? Well I got a kiss - well two actually - and you didn\'t so ner........ or did you..... ;) :] He must have thought I was foreign with a greeting like that and seemed disappointed when I said I was from England.... lol

It was nice to see the gang, although didn\'t get much time with you guys at all. Peter\'s family were there and some friends he\'d not seen for ages, so we were busy doing the rounds. Got some great pics of the models, when I get them posted I\'ll do a link here :D

I think GD went rather well considering it was in a new venue.

Is thee any suggestions that you guys can make to improve it for next year? I\'m going to speak to the guys who organise it next week and give them a few of my suggestions.

Certainly a bigger area for the EM team would be cool, I didn\'t even realise any of you guys were there this year

Perhaps moving the FW design stand away from the sales area too

Cheers

I think that from what was said by one of the group that is fairly local to the NEC (no name no blame :D )

That the facilities in the next set of halls up were a lot better especially if we wanted to all congregate.

Also reading back through the comments by others in this thread and one or two of the other GD threads there is a lot to be said for the facilities as well.

Certainly the hall with the trade stands in were a problem finding for a lot of people with all the seating blocking one end of the main hall.

Trade stands are usually places to have to fight your way through to get a look see, it is quite good fun stamping on ankle biters, or just give them your best Ogre like scowl and watch them visibly shrink in fear.
I think I\'ll have a suit of Chaos Space Marine armour made for next year. :D

Just do what I did, grab a leaflet from the Forgeworld stand stand back aand scan to see what ofers are on it then shuffle your way in when they ask who\'s next shout \"I\'ll have one of these\" whilst pointing to the picture :D it did the trick I was three people back at the time :Dlol

Dragonsreach couldn\'t believe how quick I was and when I told him what I did he fell about laughing :D

I do think Forgeworld need a sepate area to actually sell the stuff though. Effectively giving them three areas seperate from each other as opposed to two would be benificial to them as well as customers.

how about a paintmaster category like the french and spanish competitions. or giving a limited edition mini to all of those who pass the first cut, this in turn could be the competeition mini for the following year. (just so the standard in that category will be very high as they all are painters who have made the cut before.)
i think this would be a good incentive to those who are good painters but can\'t break into the demon winners club.

that was my first GD and I loved it. Even though after 2 days spent in the bus my communicative skills could be compared to that of the vegetable I enjoyed it (GD not brain loss :D)! I feel my batteries are fully charged now - again I want to paint minis and my head is full of new ideas. All thanks to people met there (with honourable mention of ralfmetal) and to the stunning models I`ve seen there.
I`ve started to upload some pics. First batch could be seen here:

The rest is still waiting on my hard drive...
