I got some clothes on in record time (superman in a phonebooth would have been proud!) and then went to log onto CMON to get Mattys number and apologise like I have never apologised before.

Its at this point that I realised that the competition isn\'t for two weeks!

So is anyone else feeling the pressure?

Well it could have been worse.

You could have drempt that you\'d won the slayer sword but when you went to collect it you walked out on to the stage and you were NAKED:eek::eek::eek:

That would be a nightmare for anyone









Seeing you walk out on to the stage naked I mean :p

:D That would be great sit on stage and just describe the ideas you were gonna do.... or maybe a new category.. \"the real life got in the way category\" where you place on a base a random selection of part undercoated assembled opened bits with a brief description of what it was gonna be and a real meaningful title.. it\'d be like the Turner prize for minis....

All you lucky sods talking about weeks left get your finger out.. I have days left then I\'m away until the comp.......tick tick tick.......

So when/where is the get-together? Yes, I am just that lazy -- don\'t feel like reading all the 14 pages to find out :rolleyes:

And would someone please motivate me to paint something other than my nails?

You could manage something on a bad day that most would struggle to do at their best........plus the display cabinets would be a lot duller without one of your creations...As a leading artist you have a duty to produce the kind of work that has inspired myself and other painters with it\'s unmistakeable style...
that motivation enough for ya????

Well if you don\'t manage to paint something other than your nails then you are just going to have to enter them in the Open category. And lets face it, Games Day\'s going to be no fun for you if you have to stand around all day with your hands in one of the display cabinets is it?

i think we are meeting up at the tables like last year at roughly 1. (saying that i forgot the time last year and missed it!)

i think we are going to a nearby place for something to eat afterwards and chat as well (hope so as the food in th arena is shite)

About the actual comp, how many rounds of judging are there?

is it just green sticker and then they choose the winners or do they have multiple rounds?

Various people deemed to have the right kind of critical eye choose the minis that make the final cut, then, with far too little time left ( ;) ) the models that have the green stickers are removed from the cabinets category by category and the final group of judges (a mixed bag of GW big boys (in both seniority in the company and physical size generally!)) make their final decissions. Oh, and then all the category winners are put together and they decide on the Slayer Sword winner.

Oh, I have been dreaming of Games Day ALOT! I dreamt that I got the slayersword a couple of dozen times, in my dreams it always works out for some reason...

only one time I dreamt something bad...
I dreamt that I had got the date wrong and was going to take the plane to birmingham the friday before, so we had alot of time to spend before the event, and then we got the date wrong, so we took the plane on the GD sunday, and when we arrived it was just in time to enter... like last minute, and it turned out that I had forgot my minis at home! and then I woke up! just like in those movies when they have a bad dream and they wake up and realises that it was all a dream!! and I looked at the time and what date it was and I was all OMG... \'cos it was august 23rd... and I was all freaked out... then I went back to sleep xD

anyone knows when the CMON meetup on the saturday will be?

Just look for a crowd of people with Dragonsreach in the centre. He\'s relatively easy to spot because he\'s so much older than pretty much everyone else around him! ;)

Oh hang on, Saturday? Is there some sort of pre-GD meet going on then?

Regarding Saturday, there has been some interest. However finding a location that suits all is going to be tricky as it seems I am the only one with a car!

At present I am meeting Adrian Bay at Leamington Spa station during Saturday and Sven (Avelorn).

What may be best is a late afternoon/early evening meet so that we can have a meal as well?

I am proposing to bring along some painted pieces from my collection (including a big unreleased green thing!!).

On Sunday a few of us have already exchanged mobile numbers and are planning to meet about midday at the same place we all met last year (back of GD hall near repair tables) and go over to the Hotel for refreshments!!

Again I realise this may not suit all but there is nothing to stop anyone else meeting later and joining us if they wish.
