Howdy all,

Selling an entry commission for Gamesday
\" Best Single 40K miniature \"

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220215790632

get it your way, you keep the loot - Mini - Trophy - Maybe Sword?

Thanks all, Tim

Wow, hehe... interesting idea you have...

I think that if you really win the Sword you are going to regret it...:)... For a demon, well... 500 Dollars is an okay price for a Single Miniature...

GOOD luck with that auction, I will definately keep an eye on it...

Thanks Matt,

I have been at a loss on what to do for a Single 40K mini.

Maybe someone out there wants something special, done the way they imagined ( Hopefully a Hot Slaanesh Female Marine :)

Having the project set & paid for will make it very easy to keep the quality of the highest caliber.

Also the time enough to get it done right.

Besides I gotta roll the dice with the IRS giving folks the means to be spendy ehh:)

If I can\'t manage to sell this slot I\'ll just have to do a killer project & hope to be able to say \" I told ya so \" later this year

That may make up for any slight to my ego if it does not sell :)

My Gold winner at UK last year was a Commission for a customer.. well more riend than customer .... I did it purely because I iked the idea of the project and the timing made it smack in time for GD so I had a choice .. earn nothing for a couple of weeks and do a strong entry.. Or earn for the commission and enter it...Needless to say he was happy and he (without me asking) paid extra ater the event...He still got a bargain but I don\'t regret it...

Nice idea good luck with it....as you say your record speaks or itself.. just be wary of ebay.. I\'m pretty sure there is a clause in their trading contract that services can\'t be sold and technically this is what your doing?????

sadly its an ebay violation since you arent selling an item....

painting a piece to super high quality, and then asking the person if it can be entered is cool......advertising as if its going to win...is lame

why dont you try something new when painting instead of painting the same thing every time? might be a challenge, and it might make golden daemon \"worth it\" again and you wouldnt have to have someone to pay you to do it as if entering GD was a chore and not a choice

just my thoughts

\" In violation of Ebay\'s policy \"

Gotta check ito that I guess.

I saw an oil painter, Sculptor, watercolorist & Illustrator selling commissions.

These were selling quite well.

Maybe it\'s the way im listing the auction ( catagory ect )

As far as being lame I dont know many painters that put entries into competitions without the thought that hopefully it will place....

Besides im not saying for sure, Im simply saying \" IF \" it wins the buyer gets the goodies.

Also, Dont see where I paint all same stuff perhaps you are mistaking me for another painter.

People always overthink these forums, just making an offer to someone out there who might be lookin...thas it no big deal.

Waz the harm? I guess im trivializing the hobby by, selling my services :)

Pleeeeeze..

Tim:
Do you realise exactly how arrogant and ego-centric this makes you sound?
Especially when you have two threads about this topic.

Sorry to be sounding like a self involved horn blower :)

When has it ever been a bad idea to get the word out.

Thas all, never made any claims to be sure winner - never said it was a lock - or im so good.

just saying if someone wants something interesting & well done here is a chance they might see fit to take.

As to the two threads again, why not?

I have seen worse threads clogging up the pages here on CMON.

Besides I never know where the potenitial customer might be lookin ;)

Also, at the end of the day you get to post your perceptions & perspectives about me & my offer.

All the while I give ample & overwhelming reason for folks to post with my self rightous adacity.

I don\'t think you sound bad. Dragonsreach and Starks come off as a pair of tits in this thread, but your contribution seems ok ;)

/Edit/ actually mainly Mike ;)

just so we\'re clear, i think the idea is fine if done for the right reasons...i dont believe it is however, because of how everything is worded and displayed

but my suggestion is an honest one, im not bashing you, im simply saying you should try something different, you\'ve seen success painting in that style you paint in...why not try some other things? play with light, colour, texture, atmosphere, and so on...some more advanced stuff, maybe some more blending instead of just pure application and bright flashy contrast

itd give more meaning to painting a piece, instead of just banging one out for GD taking the trophy throwing it in the closet and selling the winning piece for a couple $100

Starks

Not an origional idea.. I beleave Matt verzanni did this years ago..ebayed off the rights to call the shots on a few of his entries for a Chicago GD and when GD was over the person got to keep the figure.

Your right Starks,

I should put more energy into being like everyone else.

Would\'nt life be so much more grand if everyone saw the world the same way?

How sweet it would have been if the Impressionists never tried anything new.....Pleeeze take Art history classes & enjoy the variety of peoples perspectives.

While your the poor mans Banshee I will be painting minis the way I enjoy painting them.

People either hate my style or enjoy them for their originality.

Again these are pewter models that will Explode into pieces when dropped - Oil from fingers will destroy the paint - Mold release from the production process will cause primer fail - Ambient UV light will cause the colors to fade & change tones - slightest friction will cause paint loss on high areas & possibly like all other types of chemical interactions they might start to crack, peel, fade, change, oxidize on their own over time.

If you wanna push the bounds of creativity in any medium, doing the same thing thats been done before but doing so in a far less original way will get ya no where.

Maybe if you wanna preserve your legacy in a creative way try the Egyptian way use stone.

Also, with any technique you must know where to use such FLASHY applications of color.

Anyone can highlight or paint this way but, does please the eye? You have to have a steady hand & choose the color that is best for the occasion ect.

My style is not for everone.

Thas ok thas your opinion. Your not the first nor are you the most talented painter to say so.

Maybe your right, I\'ll blend, NNM, source light my way into obscurity by being just like everyone else....

Hm. Don\'t position yourself on any high horses claiming to have a unique style. I see similar styles to the one you use on tabletob armies all the time. You are a very good painter, but the conformity-tirade is rather misplaced.

I actually rather like the thought that you take that precise brush of yours and try out some different stuff. How far would you do instructions if I bought that commission? :) I\'m not saying you should change your style... but still it would be cool to see something new.

what does \"The winner will recieve the finished Model - IF it places\" mean? that the model won\'t be sent if it doesn\'t place?

the poor mans Banshee? i dont even know what that means...i assume an insult of some sort

If you wanna push the bounds of creativity in any medium, doing the same thing thats been done before but doing so in a far less original way will get ya no where.

who said do it the same as everyone else? i said try \"something new\" like maybe putting your own spin on existing techniques? you know be \"creative\" with more than one thing?

the top talent are always trying new things, weathering, textures, colours, techniques, etc, its how so many get passed around(like nmm, and like wet palettes, and like successive washes)

and if you really think your work(in general) is that \"original\"...I suggest going to gaming forums and looking around a bit more you will realize your \"style\" is even more common than the \"conformed style\" you mention

Ive never said you were bad, never said you should paint like anyone else, just to try something different

@Squidders, I read it that way at first too...but if you read it again(about 4 times) you will notice its \"you get the piece.... IF it places you get the trophy, or sword as well\"

Ahhhh ok... I got it.

Well, there\'s nothing unusual about painting minis as commissons that get entered in to competitions.
