Now hold on, just because there are quite a few morons in the world don\'t let the media fool you.
I\'m sure there were quite a few savvy answers that just got cut because they didn\'t fit the spin of the story.
Every time there is a hurricane in Louisiana the media runs for the most ignorant, illiterate, redneck they can find, to get comments from.
Just once I\'d like them to get a normal person, but that wouldn\'t be as entertaining.
Are you complaining about all the attention you get?

do tell.

On a similar note, an old friend of mine joined the navy after high school. We were from Oklahoma. Other soldiers actually asked him, with sincerity, if he ever had to fight off an Indian attack.

Doesn\'t surprise me at all. People are just retarded these days. Americans especially. It is truely amazing...they don\'t vote, they don\'t understand political issues, they don\'t know global geography(most Americans don\'t even know US geography), and most are ego-centric. All they care about is themselves and don\'t think of themselves as part of a global community.
Lets just invade a country.....and then later wonder why so many people hate us......
Ok ....I\'m done. Rant off.:flame:

^ Haha of course he didnt. We Americans killed all of them off about 150 years ago.

I assume that was the sick humor in it though.

Of course, all the idiots in Europe immigrated over here. Why else get on a leaky wooden boat to cross an ocean to land inhabited by savages who wanted to take your scalp?

I mean, look at my own heritage, I\'m decended from mostly \"Pennsylvania Dutch\" which makes me mostly German (whaaa?).

One of my roommates in college couldn\'t find Pennsylvania on a map. :( Sad.

@ Yaki- You\'re in Waynesboro? The one in Franklin county or the one in Lancaster county?

Absolutely, I was just thinking this after seeing it.

And these people are not stupid (well, they may be that too :D) they\'re ignorant; not the same thing at all.

One thing to the credit of the people interviewed, the world map is mislabelled : Australia is labelled North Corea. Of course they are still uneducated for not spotting the mistake, but not as much as cnnn wants us to believe.
As a Frenchman living in Australia, I spotted this because the guy who wanted to nuke France put a flag in Australia, he would at least have gotten me!
That was really a good one, I laughed so hard all the office came to see it!

Sadly, for the people that made the final cut, I think they are both.

Apparently inbreeding is still far too frequent in North America, also very sadly.:(

Brushlicker and Freak!
I just wonder how he had a map that called Australia North Korea and another map that called Australia France.

He didn\'t, he gave them markers to put on the map, its where they thought the countries were.

And I thought Oz was the safest place to be during a nuclear war...

That\'s from CNNNN, a spoof made in Australia.
Great stuff, but really makes you worry people like that form the majority (it would seem) of the most powerful country in the world.

watch it again. The map is mislabeled. Them putting the pin there just showed that they could read.

Another geography flub:
apparently a significant number (most?) of Americans think Alaska is an island.
Why not? On all the maps of the USA, it\'s down there in the Pacific next to Hawaii.

Us Europeans often joke about uneducated Americans, but sadly I\'m afraid we\'re heading the same way! It\'s been considered \'cool\' to be bad in school for a while here in Sweden and students brag about how bad they are in various subjects.

Also, among the more ambitious students there is an increasing questioning of the need to learn things, whose usefulness isn\'t immediately obvious, such as any mathematics beyond addition and subtraction, history, chemistry etc. etc. etc.

And in the name of political correctness, more and more politicians are of the opinion that students should have more influence over how their education is structured.

Pretty soon, people will not know anything anymore... :(
