he would be fully within his rights to turn round and sue not only the person that put it on but also this site... which would be a crying shame.

insult him, be rude about him but dont show him.

make his picture all blurry, I guess we all got a good look at the sneaky git.

I am confusd by what you say snow dog.... if the purchaser of an item buys the item, surely he buys the rights of that item also. If the item is owned by the buyer, how can the original painter (who gave up his right when he sold it on) claim damages and sue? :bouncy:

If I bought a Rubens or a Van Gogh, I have the right to display that painting on a wall of my choice. I do not have the right to claim that I painted it myself. Unless I want to look like a complete t*t.

Sorry, I didn\'t mean to imply that...

Oops. Yeah, I can see how you thought I meant that. I meant \"no offense\" regarding the allegation you had made. Meaning, I don\'t think the kid is guilty by just an allegation itself. Of course, all signs point to his guilt....

My point being, that I think the kid will get his just desserts, it just should be from the right source.

It\'s pretty obvious either he or whoever helped him enter read the GD rules very carefully. The original superb base doesn\'t fit the rules so the figure had to be remounted on to a standard round plastic base.

Because of that, I\'d say it\'s definitely a deliberate, calculated attempt to cheat, and not a spur of the moment thing.

Not OT this time.

Well if he broke the law (which he did). Under Canadian youth criminal law; we are obligated NOT show his picture, name etc.

Still, I tend to agree with Tuubje\'s idea. Let\'s go to his and Eric Kelso\'s house and all the other guys like them, and beat the snot out of \'em. Jay and Silent Bob definitely had it right that time :D

However I am baffled how that crappy base and paint chip got past the GD judges??? It\'s pretty obvious the base does not equal the figure. Hell its not even a legitimate round base!!! Check out that beauty of drybrushed rock too. lol

I would certainly say it disgusts me someone could do this AGAIN!!!

My sympathies Pitynoman. You must be p*ssed off as hell.

Well, with every contest there will always be some people that try to cheat their way to victory. I don\'t think you can stop all of them, so a couple are bound to slip through the mazes of the net and actually win.

He\'s not STILL at it is he?

I\'m pretty sure he\'ll be along, shooting from the hip and blasting the name of a painter who has achieved worldwide respect, and all just because she won\'t acknowledge him lol.

Keep that pigsh*t safe Finn, it\'ll worth something in a few hours!

Yours reverently,

Rev, gotta love ya man!! Chrispy you really do need to get off your high horse dude, really.
Otter, show me who/how your gonna legally enforce a painters Ip on a mini they sold on a public auction site?? name me the established legal case that sets precedence for this case?!?

the IP clause painters are using is going to be hard to enforce. if this kid and his folks weren\'t dumb enough to realize the winning mini would be on the gw site, this all would have passed no one the wiser.

mini\'s bought on e-bay are probably wrongfully entered in competions all the time. :(:( that\'s my point.

No Such Agency hit it dead on. i was at an rtt yesterday and spent several hours with the gw outrider who\'s on cmon. you\'ve gotta do your own stuff, end of story.

i also agree the childs pic should not be posted as well. he is a minor and was probably put up to the whole thing.

It\'s kinda tough to see in those pics. There\'s a larger pic at http://www.sodemons.com/gd23usbaltimore/IMG_3967-00.htm where you can decide for yourself.

Personally, I believe it\'s an amazing piece of work, even if I don\'t like the eyes. :)

I know that when an artist makes a work of art, the rights to the work are kept for 50 years after his death. I\'m not sure how this would relate to a painted miniature, if at all but I am guessing that it is feasible but difficult in the extreme to excercise.

Well...my two cents...

Everyone seems awfully worked up and indignant...

I definitely agree that this sort of thing is pretty lame...and shouldn\'t happen. I\'m glad that the culprit is banned for life if that\'s the case...serves him right.

As for this:

\"It\'s pretty obvious the base does not equal the figure. Hell its not even a legitimate round base!!! Check out that beauty of drybrushed rock too. \"

I actually thought that the new base looks better than the old...showcases the mini instead of competing with it for attention. The proper round base is under the rock BTW (attention to detail, no?)

\"Copyrighting\" Minis

Earlier in this thread someone mentioned copyrighting their minis by laving a watermark... here\'s my sneeky little idea to try that.

Take a look at this painting (also a good source for NMM :D ):

Kjeldoran+Knight.jpg

Just a knight in snow, right? but look at the blade, specifically the shine on it. Connect it to the spear and you get the word \"Zack\"! The name of the artist was Ron Spencer, but it was his way of dedicating a work to one of his friends.. You might think to do something like this, where your initals are in freehand. It won\'t look like it because they aren\'t looking at it, but you\'ll know where to look and point it out to the judges, and of course the only way to stop this is if you knew about it but even then you would have to chip it off or paint over it and if you needed to cheat, obviously you coudln\'t do it exactly in teh right style..
