Grotesque v. Fire Warriors

is that a scratch built grotesque? If so - nice one! It looks far closer to my image of a grotesque than the GW one. As for having him chopping up tau - shame on you! The poor wee Fire Warriors don't stand a chance!

I felt much the same, but went for the lazy option and bought a bunch of OOP Rackham Nemesis models. (from here, actually : http://www.miniaturemarket.com/inc/sdetail/620111/395823). Theyre made of that rubbishy rubbery plastic, but I figured for 11bucks for 2, it was fine. Ive since converted them using bits from the Talos kit (how helpful of GW to include 6 heads and numerous extra arms...), and they now look not dissimilar to what you've got. Principal difference being that yours is far bigger and meaner looking (and personally sculpted, which always makes for major kudos points in my book)

On a more artistic note - I really like the posing of the grotesque. The left hand fist conveys pent up frustration/rage very well, while the right hand has a definite feeling of "swish" to it. Also, the musclulature looks suitably steroidal (is that even a word?), but at the same time seems to be in anatomically the right place. I've never been able to do musculature when I sculpt/convert, so big respec' to those who can :)

Those are cool minis for sure. The Talos/Cronos kit was a god-send for getting my grot done on time, there's tons of great bitz that would just be a nuisance to fab. I'm also a little unhappy with the Cronos model too. I've drawn up some concept sketches to make one closer to the codex fluff... but I need to make a vacuum former to fab the plasticard. So it might be a bit! ha ha

I appreciate the kudos on the aesthetics, I'll have to post pics of the other two as "greens." One is striding forward and the other (squad upgrade to an Abberation with flesh gauntlet) has his arms are thrown back and he is howling. Quite nasty really.

Great diorama !!!

Small things i noticed. Not enough definition for stones and terrain, but good.

cool! yeah the tau diving is really spot on.
what i miss in the diorama is more highs and depths of the ground, it is a bit flat and some hills would definetly add dynamic.

Ha ha, yeah, that's what the golden demon judges said. I have to admit that the basing was all done the day before I flew to Chicago.. better to not to be so last minute next time.

gotta have some respect for that shas'la firewarrior that just got slashed though, he had the bravery to stare death in the face and remain sane for the greater good!
