GW Gamesday pics

I still wish they had put up more pics of the finalists, in particular in Open since there was only one prize. There was some great stuff that didn\'t win that I\'d have like to get a closer look at..:(

ETA: Last year they took pics of all the finalists and posted those on the site too. This year they seem to have not bothered!

Yep, Richard Hale from Stuff of Legends was there, taking photos like a nutter as usual. He said photos should be up in about a week.

Wheee, Stuff Of Legend\'s always got the best coverage, don\'t really like the GW coverage. They always take pictures of the display base + mini.. and the bases are sometimes very high :|~ And there\'s a lack of close ups. :/

I wonder what he did about the models he dropped and turned into piles of dust?

hehe

And no pictures of the Daemon Prince anywhere? or that lovely Custodes conversion?

whoa, wait a minute

the winner of the monster category, this minotaur: http://uk.games-workshop.com/goldendemon/uk/2004/category7.htm

there is written that the winner\'s called mark tait. but this style, these metallics, the tongue, the kneepad sculpting - isn\'t that a piece of allan c? or did mr. tait study allan\'s work for years and years?

single fig WFB..

I have a question about the silver winner of the single fig WFB (joe hill\'s bretonnian winner)

The fig is incredible and extremely well painted (i\'d say it should have gotten gold), but it looks odd the way he is standing on the rock. Kind of unbalanced.

Is that just from the pic, or did it look that way in real life?

They have made a few mistakes that is allan c\'s doombull as far as I am aware I saw him collect a gold.

yes, there is a little error on GW website, the giant beastman which made gold in fantasy monster category is my model...

about the slayer sword, don\'t judge the gw pics...there are bad. for me it\'s a really well deserved slayer sword. Jacques-alexandres Gillois is for me one of the best painter/sculptor in the world. the sculpting job on the marauder was better (so far) than any other entries, and the paintjob was excellent too. this kind of minis must be seen in real, not in photo.

Allan, your minataur was amazing. I was especially impressed with the metallics on that.
Tell Bruno I loved his deamon prince as well, he couldn\'t understand me at GD :). You French guys rule at painting.

thanks Koen :) i\'ll tell it to Bruno. i really like your ork boss, the armour painting was great, you really improve your painting since last years (and your dreanought was an excellent mini).
the 40k monster category was hard, Mark Tait (wonderfull ogryn) Bruno Grelier and you. 3 painters from 3 differents countries! that\'s why the GD standards are higher each years, \'cause people from the entire world come across the frontiers!

GD was a truly great event!

What I saw on the day were fantastic models and paintjobs!

The evil and yet wonderful combination of not placing and seeing such great models has been really inspiring and not at all frustrating and depressing as I thought it would be. No, getting beaten just makes me want to paint better and I already have too many ideas to choose from.

Meeting various painters for lunch was great as usual and more people showed up and more brought additional miniatures to look at. A good tradition that just seems to get better every year.

Congratulations to all the winners and especially the French who seriously proved themselves to be in top form this year.

Best Regards,
JRN

great pics!

Thanks Margo, you really brighten up any picture you are in, but my favorite was the \"size matters\"...(love that Mammoth!)

thanks, supervike :) yes, I really liked the Oliphant, too. In fact, I took this picture to show it to my husband -- when the mini (hmm, that\'s a rather odd word for such a giant) was released, we argued if anyone would dare enter it in golden Demon. Turns out, someone was ... :)

the lines looked uber long!

that\'s because they indeed were uber long! I\'ve heard there were about 4000 entries to Golden Demon this year ...

and yes, my spelling of \"queues\" is correct ;)

Thanks Alan, I hope I am improving. I am going to need some improvement if I want to win more demons in the future. The bar just keeps being raised, it\'s hard to keep up.
