Do you also get a free beer at bugmans ??? ;)

I saw your entry for the duel, looked good- at least you finished it, though!

It\'s weird seeing the models in real life lol.

Good job in getting into the top 6. :D

man i ache after that bus ride!.........good to see you all. My entries both made first cut ...........are we missing out Alex Z??? she won lotr and i nearly got the shock of my life when i though i had won it (we both did the same mini, same colour scheme.........hers better) apparently i was in the top 4-6 of that category. and getting beaten by models of that quality is never bad. cheers for all the nice comments on my emperors champion...@tammy i have to learn how to get a decent pic of it. hi to Ramon and everybody that talked to me. overall i\'d say the gd was of a high standard. it was just a shame that you couldnt get close enough to see what the top painters had done . and with all the crowds and rude people barging into you all the time.

My part of the story

Entered four categories, all of them got into finalists, but didn\'t place. Something that confuses me though: Bronze in Warhammer Fantasy Regiment (Dark Elf Blood Bowl Team) looks amazingly 40K-ish ...

oh and next near some of us brits have got to win something, just so we can save the announcers blushes when they get to those polish/scandinavian names.
maybe we should get our own back and take over the next french GD

Medved, dont take the p*** (only jk). lol, my names Joseph Tomaszewski (Polish name, but born in Britain) and typical he couldn\'t pronounce it rite, i agree though about the amount of italians, russians, germans (and polish) names though, i feel sorry for the guy calling out the names.

not takin the p155, congrats on the trophy. and put it this way when i lived in slovakia people found my name hard to say! but we do need to get some brits \'representing\' abroad and here. clearly the trophies go to the best models regardless of nationality. how many of us here (uk) would be up for a road trip next year?

Agreed for the most part, but there are several figures that the shots show are clearly very rough paintjobs. On the other hand, the chaos marauder does suffer from a blurry shot that makes it hard to see details.

As for the guy that won the sword (and I really don\'t know from these pictures what to think), just because he has won before and is a very skilled painter does not mean that EVERY figure he does is perfect, so let\'s look at the figure and not the painter.

I can\'t wait to see better pics off the gold diorama and 40K large minis. I thinks they are definite gems that we are missing. Any word from someone who was there? Also what\'s this about referances to 25mm round bases.

Please do, if I go I have no hope to win anything so meeting a lot of CMONers would be great :D And you might go back to the UK with a few trophies as the French GD isn\'t yet as hard as the UK one (getting there with allan jeremie thomas and a couple more very talented painters :p)

First off, congrats to all the winners! It was great to meet up with Steve, Mike, Tammy, Ramon and Koen again, as well as a lot of new faces from CMON. Had a wonderful time chatting to folks in the pub and the FW Chaos dragon left me drooling (it will be mine Oh yes!).

I entered Open in Golden Demon, and got into finalists straight away with Trogdor the fire dragon. There were some amazing entries in Open, that haven\'t even been photograped, the Kroot offering diorama for instance was breathtaking. My Fire Dragon seemed to be very popular with the crowds from what I could hear, but again no coverage of him on GW\'s site (Hopefully someone with better coverage will post soon!). Given the amount of excellent entries in the Open, I wasn\'t expecting to place in the top 2, was hoping (probably deluding myself) to maybe scrape a bronze based on how he was received and how quickly he got picked for the finals.

The judging in Open was very confusing, first it looked like 3 models (which I personally wouldn\'t have chosen) had won that category, then it turns out there was just one prize for the open and the judges didn\'t know this at the time). I went away not knowing what had won and feeling rather upset and angry about the way the open was handled this year.

Having seen now, what did win (which was not one of the three on the top shelf), yes that piece was amazing and would have been my first choice as well. So I feel a bit better about that, But GW really must get their act together with regards to rules and awards! Had I known there was only one prize for the open, I wouldn\'t have entered in as I know I\'m not good enough to get a gold yet. :(

Regards

Well congrats to all the people that have achieved their goals.

Winning or not winning, making it to the GD, making it past the first cut or winning a demon, is still a huge achievement.

So to all those that have won and haven\'t won, well done!

:)

And here... more piccies

oh it was yours? remarkable work, really. you might have noticed my entry in the Open, if you looked reeeeally closely: I entered with Warmaster Empire General on Griffon. Something really small for the Open :)

Welldone to everyone that entered and to the people that won an award. This years Golden Deamon was great. I only entered the Lotr Single mini with a Gollum didnt make the final:( . The Top three in that Catogery I would total agree with.

Did get to see much more due to the crowds.

Ah, I saw the Epire Griffon. Looked cool to me. And it was lovely to meet you in person Margo :)

The Open was abust though as someone made a huge cock up and forgot to order three trophies so they only had a 1st place. Probably annoyed a few people though Seb Perbet was a worthy winner.

Well, got back from my eighth Golden Demon and failed to get that tenth trophy. My three entries all made first cut but failed to place. Ah well.

Weirdly it didn\'t bug me much in the end, and I didn\'t spend the bus trip home working out new entries. I just felt kind of \'meh\' about the whole thing. I think it\'s because I\'ve done it all except the Slayer Sword. So I\'m not sure it would have really made me much happier if I had got a demon. Who knows... and there\'s always next year.

However, the day was cool. Great to meet all the new faces. It was nice that Tammy decided to join us and she didn\'t seem grumpy. I dunno, it seemed to me that she enjoyed herself and took great pleasure in telling her entry/wall story

Felt a bit sorry for Victor Hardy, who\'se demon prince was utterly gorgeous but got cut due to his use of specific religeous imagery. I kind of see the point though, to me, the images seemed more out of place in 40k than it being a position of offense taken (which I believe was the problem). Stunning work though and I think it would have done extremely well otherwise.

Joint entry from Seth Nash (conversion) and Matt Parkes (paint). Can open: worms everywhere! Quite nice though.

Nice to catch up with the Perry twins and Steve Saleh whom I haven\'t seen since my time at Foundry (none of whom recognised me after shedding 5 stone in weight).

I seriously love the Ogre Kingdoms range. I definately must own some of those. Particularly the Assassin with martial arts Gnoblar :D

So, Golden Demon. To be honest, I don\'t think I\'m good enough at painting. I\'m a good all rounder and I\'d place my sculpting ability against anyone in the contest but my painting just doesn\'t bear the close scrutiny of a Matt Parkes or a Joe Hill. I feel the Slayer Sword is beyond my grasp unless I do something insane and big which can make up for this slight shortcoming. So, not sure what happens next. I don\'t enjoy doing the big stuff and I don\'t think I really have what it takes in the single categories. I\'ve got 9 demons already and four of them are gold. Maybe it\'s time to think about retiring from competition.

But it was a fun day :)

hi guys gd and golden demon was fun this year alltough i found a lot of things strange in the goldendemon\'s,for example:the only 1 winning entry in the open, and the obviously bad judging(to be honest),but i\'m really proud and ready to go at it again next year(i made first cut...again...but placed to! in my only category this year(40.000 single),so for me that\'s a big step in the right direction...congrats to everyone who won!!:D

Hi all

Just to fill in some gaps, the Silver in the duel (salamander + Tyranid) and gold in the large 40K (SW SM) were both by Adrian Bay. And he paints in enamels.....there\'s a thing!

Take my hat off to all the CMONers who entered, and so many seem to have made the first cut; a big WELL DONE to you all!

Totally inspired by the whole occassion, certainly more so than other years. Must\'ve been the company!:)

I was one of the first people into the Golden Demon Hall this year and was confused to see this entry (Seb Perbet-Open) had already made the first-cut, indicated by the small green sticker on the base, before any other entries had even been placed in the Open category cabinets.
I agree that it was of outstanding quality, but to presume its excellence before any other entries had been seen?
If the lack of three trophies didn\'t \'annoy\' anyone then this surely would have.
