yup dropped and rekindled.. never found any use for it until Razzas NMM tutorial then realised it is a great tone colour for adding warmth to a lot of colours and then they go and pull the blanket out damn them....

Scaly green is possibly my most used colour... grr... oh well my supplier has me 12 saved as well as 6 each ink just in case ya know......:D

The thing is with all these things is I like to have them for the bulk of y painting which is quick ebay ready work.. I know the colours and the techniques I use to get the effects I want with them.. saves time and hassle and lets me knock out minis left right and centre...

remove a colour and it\'s just a matter of adapting....I loved nauseating blue and was gutted when it went now don\'t miss it at all... it\'s all part o the continuing process of learning..great fun ...
As fo the new inks by all accounts they are a fantastic set however I only have that \"reliable\" info from a set of staffers who can\'t paint a ceiling let alone a mini..I mean come on it\'s GW .. they wouldn\'t cock up and remove a useful product from there Loyal customer base they care so much abot would they;)

But blood red is not very good. and white is not very good either... so it makes for a not so smooth application I believe. Got to try it to be sure though I guess.

A good alternative are the Game Color Inks (the only usable Game Color paints in my opinion ...). they behave similar to the GW inks, but they dry (almost) flat. A big plus if you ask me.

No it\'s been around since the White Top Round bottles.
I have a bottle still on my painting table used for an undercoat for flesh on a figure recently.

I have the entire line and the display for the black screw tops, and terracota is not among them. these were the most recent available prior to the black pop-tops in the US.

maybe terracota was in the UK prior, but only recently in the US, or it was not included in the standard display and had to be bought seperate and needed its own display since there was no place for it in the 7 pot vertical display? ???

NVM, others have already confirmed it came and went several times over the years. wonder why then it is going again? maybe to make room for a new Leprous Brown? :D

Might have been dropped, then resurrected.
I forgot how old you are! lol

Mike borrowed his of those chines guys painting all those soldiers....:drunk:
Nah I\'d have him doing the cooking. lol
Besides everyone knows a painter can\'t die until his last mini is painted.

I looked at the Terracotta bottle last night and yes it was from the box of paints. It still has the Mettalic style label on it, as have most of the inks on my paint \"bombsite\" (Can\'t call it a table anymore. :D )

Supposedly, from third party sources (hearing from people who saw it), GW\'s Washes are supposed to shade, as well as do the job ink. Something along the lines of the \"miracle dipping\" that many Nid or sometimes Ork players have picked up on. It\'s thicker than inks (the most common description is \"Thick like blood\"), and supposedly has more pigment in the mix, like foundation paints.

In the end, inks will get dropped. Though there\'s always the alternatives to it. Many people swear by mixing your own inks using water (I\'d prefer rubbing alcohol) to thin regular paint.

Anyone tried P3 inks yet? I have a bottle of their brown ink that I\'ve been contemplating unleashing on my skaven. I\'ve been happy with their other colors so far.

The word from the EM:ers is that the new washes rock.

They leave virually no tidemarks and dry completely matt. They are great for metallics and you can both use them quickly for armies or build them up in layers for single figures. They seem to be using them all the time nowadays. However they are more for shading then glazing, you can\'t add say red ink to a surface for a more vibrant red. But I\'ve never used inks for that pupose anyway except on metals.

Bought the entire set of old inks yesterday to keep for reference. And a scaly green because I need it for unfinished commissions! :)

All the colours that disappear are relatively easy to do approximate mixes of so I wouldn\'t worry if you don\'t need to match something. None of them, except scaly green, will be of any great loss to me.

I never even knew P3 had inks out, must resist temptation to spend money on paint!!!

The P3 inks are very pigment heavy or should it be strong..hard to explain but what I mean is no matter how much you water them down they still colour.. Not really given them a full trial yet but they are fun..

@Avelorn....r.i.p scaly green.. I agree that is the only one I\'ll miss really .. oh well got a fair few pots now....

I had to chuckle whilst reading the latest White Dwarf which has a couple of painting guides that tell you to use various inks and the now limited availability paints then you turn the page to the announcement that you will no longer be able to buy these. That was well thought through :duh:

I\'m guessing/hoping/imagining that there must be plans to release a range of glazes too at some point. Having said that, I\'ve just stocked up on glaze medium at Salute anyway so I\'ve been weening myself off inks for that purpose.

it will be a shame if that is the case. one of the best techniques i ever learnt was glazing. it allows you to get that truly multichromatic look in your minis.

I use glazing all the time but never with inks. Just dilute an ordinary paint heavily instead.

Yeh I lol\'d at WD too. After reading the \'limited stock\' only parts I was pretty disappointed. I purchased 3 pots of Brass, 1 terracotta, 1 pink, 2 scaly green, tanned and bronzed...

Stupid GW! Drink! :drunk:

i don\'t even use inks, so i don\'t have a problem with \'em goin\' away...i still have the very first set of white flip-top inks gw put out, all 2/3 full, and in perfect conditiion...i also have the full set of coloured metallics from back in the day...
the old flip tops survive so well, they will probably be around after society crumbles..

by the way, terracotta is in that collection as well, and still works well...the tone is slightly different than the newer version(which i use all the time)...
a lot of the tones have changed since the original formulas...my o.g. ultramarines blue is very dark, salamander green is a slightly less shiny version of d.a. green, the old orc flesh is not as dark as the new orkhide shade, etc...
i\'m stoked that the old early 90\'s paints have stood the test of time, as the gw formula has evolved over time, and none of the old paints are obsolete...

i think that the new washes are a good idea...i use the p3 armour and flesh washes like crazy...i like that they are thicker than inks, and dry flat...i look forward to seein\' if the gw washes are as good as the p3...

cheers
jah

I also still have a bottle of Citadel Terracotta that is in a white flip top pot similar to the P3 pots.
I would have bought it way back in the early nineties.

That was back in the days where Citadel paints had 20ml in them! Sure the price might not have gone up by too much since then but the amount of paint you get has dropped by almost half.

Ghoul Grey would have to be one of my fave metallic label paints.

I use Didi\'s magic inks and Wonder wash inks from TheWarStore.com, haven\'t use a gw ink since finding these much better in my opinion.
