huh?

Which Orcs are you talking about? Because I\'ve seen many different colored Orcs come from Games Workshop. The Orc/Goblin book had several different styles for coloring Orcs in it. Then they released Ruglud\'s Armoured Orcs. They had a much more vivid color to them. Is there a particular picture you are looking at?

Not really. For example, if you look behind the Orc boyz regiment box, that colour scheme...

This isn\'t GW\'s scheme, but it works well:
Dark Angels Green basecoat, then Vallejo Flat Green for the midtone, then Goblin Green for the higlights. Add a little white to the Goblin Green if you want to add more layers of highlights.

orky stuff...

IIRC, they use a dark angels base, then goblin, then a yellow-green, like scorpion green for highlight. This gives you a yellow-green work up.

If you want something more \'green\' you could use snot green instead of goblin. Result is something more \'green\' than yellow.

hope that helps.

several ways

There are several ways I\'ve seen GW do orcs. All of these are my interpretation of what they did, as I really have no way of knowing.

The back of the package, if memory serves, is something like this:

Primed with Black. Follow with a base of Dark Angels Green. Then a mix of half Dark Angels Green, half Snot Green. Then Snot Green. Then half Snot, half Goblin Green. Then Goblin Green. Then half Goblin, half Rotting Flesh.

I think they use rotting flesh instead of Scorpion Green or even Bilious Green. That\'s how they keep that yellowish color out. If you like the yellowish color then certainly substitute Scorpion or Bilious Green for Rotting Flesh.

In reality they wouldn\'t jump so quickly from one mix to the next. They wouldn\'t go from Dark Angels Green directly to half Dark Angels and half Snot. They\'d more likely add a little bit of Snot Green to the Dark Angles until the mixture was basically Snot Green. When you do the shading this gradually and this precisely it is very important to add water in the mix. GW paints need to be thinned.

The Ruglud\'s Orc are a lot \"yellower\" than the other orcs. If I were to guess, I\'d say they painted them this way. Primed Black with a base of Dark Angel\'s green. Then Follow that with Snot Green, leaving only the deepest recesses Dark Angels. Then slowly add Bilious Green until you get the level of highlight you want.

:cool:The colour scheme for 40K orks are pretty much always dark angels green with a goblin green drybrush, but can vary. Dunno about warhammer orcs though, I\'ve seen blue ones before
