GW painting standard?

Well about the only thing I can say postive about the Ogre Kingdoms stuff is that it converts up nicely. Just go look at Scibor\'s stuff.

Finn hit it on the head with his Gnobblar comment.

And the Yetti\'s look like they were sculpted in the mid 80\'s by Ral Partha or Grenadier. Not to say that those would be bad for then, they are just not that cool for now.

Ah, that classic two-finger salute shaman lol

There are some classics in that stuff of legends line-up. Did Bob Olley do the first row of Ogryns? Don\'t like his work so much, but they are still characterful compared to the toss they released recently.

And all this modernisation and suggestions of the skin being grey :|~ Another hare-brained racket!

The new Ogres are god awful looking models. Same for me about the delay in wood elves losing them a customer. New Warhmmer came out in about 2000 ??? and it\'s not till towards the end of 2005 we get new wood elves. They look fantastic but I can\'t bring myself to buy them. In that time they have done the Tyranids twice and the Imperial guard twice as well as the Ogres.

Who knows when the Chaos Dwarfs will see the light of day.

And they are one of the Races that could really use a revamp. I was never a big fan of those helmets.:D

Heck undead have beem done several times if memory serves me correctly. As has Lizardmen.

Remember the old Chaos Dwarf figs? The ones that were like normal Dwarf-types but with mutations. Now THAT is what Chaos is all about, not all this Bull Centaur bollocks

This is an ogre?

I think his mother was a Gnobbler... and she died in childbirth. lol

I used to collect a lot of GW back in the 80\'s, but then I laid off the hobby for a few years. When I got back into it a few years ago I was knocked off my feet by the incredible stuff Reaper was doing. Since Reaper\'s were about $3.25 at the time, I could get three for what one GW cost... and they looked better! Now, as time has passed some of the newer companies Finn mentioned have caught my attention, and now I have a veritable plethora of companies to choose from. But it was CMON, that got me buying GW again. Yes, that\'s what I said. I don\'t play WH or 40K so I\'m unfamiliar with most of their lines, but some of the incredible paintjobs here have made me once again look upon their wares. I don\'t go in for their \'army\' boxes, but some of their individual pieces are excellent -

I just picked these up from my LGS. Total cost = just under thirty dollars (just over with tax). They are Vecks Slave, Vecks prisoner, Cauldron of Blood Dark Elf, Mordheim casualty, Empire Engineer, and Mordheim Vampire assassin. I ordered all of these (except for the casualty) after seeing them painted on CMON. These are excellent sculpts, and the two \'slave\' pieces only cost me $2.70 each! You can still find quality for a good price at GW, you just have to dig really deep for it.

Your right, the yetis are PURE crap, but I kinda like the ogres. I have some of the old ones and I don\'t care for them much. I also like the way they look in grey. The gnobblers don\'t do anything for me one way or the other.

I\'m very partial...

to the old Ogres...

Yes Markustay, that is an ogre, here is my version of him:

Actually my very first submission here was one:

Three of my submissions are classic ogres, and I am currently working on the fourth.

That is probably why I was so excited about the New Ogre Kingdoms stuff. I do like some of the new ones, but they are just a pale shadow compared to the old ones.

Eventually, I will try to complete my classic ogre collection, but I can\'t buy anything for a while....(stupid pact):flame:

Hey chap, I bust a gut over the moving to Ross thing.

A guy up there wants me to roast coffee with him and offered me a job. I would have gone up there in 6 months time to live, but in the end I had to say no :(

I\'ve got a job down here doing the same thing and I wanted my poor girlfriend to have a chance to settle before shifting her off somewhere lol

Man, I\'ve made my biggest decision in years in the last 24hrs and it was hard. Still, looking at moving up there in a couple of years instead. I want to work with this guy and as he\'s a friend it\'s still on the cards...

The place is very nice I\'ve heard :D
