GW prices going up. AGAIN!!

yeah, gw is getting ridiculous. It will be a sad day when I pay 12 bucks for a pack of three grots.:flame:

TBH I couldn\'t care less, there are enough smaller companys making a name for themselves now, id rather purchase off them.
But the one thing that did piss me off was I was in the store today, and they had an older dragon model out and assembled, i asked if they could order one in and it was fine, the price in the catalog was £15, so after filling out the form, and the fella ringing mail order, it was confirmed, then I was told it would be £19 instead. Talk about sniper tactics.

The only problem with hoping GW one day prices themselves out of a market is that they might take a decent chunk of the hobby out with themselves.
I love going into the GW stores and hearing how the employees justify things by saying \"Well it costs over 1 million punds to make a mold for plastic minis...\" and what-not.

Who cares? Most of their good stuff is older/classic anyway, so as long as you\'re not a GW-obsessive-fanboy (how many of them are left I wonder?), it\'s really not a problem when there\'s so much other good stuff to choose from. It\'d be a shame to see them go, but not really a huge tragedy for the general mini-painting populace, as far as I can see. Somehow, however, I doubt GW will let itself disappear.... I have a feeling they\'ll make some sort of U-turn before it\'s too late. We can just stand and watch, with knowing smiles on our faces 
I have to disagree Bill, GW\'s new stuff is really good, lots of improvements over their older product. In fact the releases over the last year or two have been of extremely high quality on average (but with some real shockers scattered amongst it I\'ll admit). There\'s even been some good value for money with releases like Skull Pass.
Course that\'s just my opinion. Ultimately, if If GW release something that I think is good then I\'ll buy it. It\'ll still cost me the same sort of price as similar things from the other manufaturers out there, so no worries to me.
A small bit of extra expense doesn\'t bother me somehow. Perhaps I\'ve just seen so many price rises now that they roll over me like peaceful waves! lol
GW are the market though! For all the love the smaller companies get on CMON, they are still just a drop in the ocean compared to the size and sales of Games Workshop. We know about the other companies, that they produce quality stuff, because we see them discussed here, but the average GW customer doesn\'t have a clue. It\'s not that they are fanboys, they just happen to have got into the GW hobby and don\'t realise other options are out there.
And there are so many reasons that the death of GW would be a bad thing to the world of miniatures, they have done a whole lot of innovating believe it or not, but I seem to remember there was a thread a while back covering this very subject.
But crap, I\'m posting in a GW price rise thread, I hate these things. Damn it!

I disagree that GW is THE market. At least not in North America. They aren\'t the only major player in the game anymore.

@Gilvan: but if we\'d look at the pourcentages, I\'m sure 40K sells way more than warmachines.
What makes me sad is that all the store personnels have to lie to their customers to justify the prices, I couldn\'t.
The reason why they do it, cause they can.
I really doubt that GW would dissapear, mini painters are a small part of the business really, compared to those that buy a whole army just for gaming, I know more of them than painters, so even if the whiole CMON decided to boycot them they\'d maybe lose 0.01% of their sales.

I am not \'anti GW\'.....I have a room full of their products! I think it would be a good thing for them to \'go down\' however as, contrary to what a lot of people say, that wouldn\'t be the end of the story. Hopefully we\'d see a leaner, meaner GW arise from the ashes and re-connect with their roots...Losing touch with their grass-roots customers and putting a lot of \'suits\' in charge is the main reason GW is in trouble...IMO.

I can see your point here guys on both sides...Games Workshop are getting a bit silly with their pricing structures and it is putting a lot of people off buyng their stuff...but...look at the amount of extra bits you get on the sprues or in blisters now, like the terminator librarian they released a while back. They put a combi-plasma gun and a storm bolter in as well as a open hand. These bits all go to good use when your converting your minis. I remember scrabbling about for old minis to cut pieces off but those days are thankfully disappearing. Not everyone wants to do conversions which is fair enough but even so, think of all of you that do...would you rather buy a complete mini to chop up for one part or use the bits from the box you bought months ago without the cutting an filing and potential damage risk to the part you need. I know which way id rather go and if it means it costs me a little bit more for a box then il take that on the chin. Its not such a bad thing in my opinion but that just me

This time last year i worked at a independant and some of those same products that are listed going up, went up last year from £6 -7 up to £10 now they are going up from £10 - £12.
