GW\'s Golden Deamon

For goodness sake!

Are you actually trying for an argument? I won\'t be drawn into this.

All I wanted to say was that why should staff not be publically recognised for their achievements? It\'s all down to the Judges\' opinion in the end anyway, and I don\'t see why you should be so damned bitter about it.

If you want to think it\'s a case of who you know not what you can do, that\'s up to you. We can\'t argue about it now so let it go and plan something better for next year. Stop being such whingers.

erm... this is a discussion forum... we are discussing

and I honestly cant see the baiting that you are concerned about, although having met WarGriffon on a number of occasions may help me understand his tone better... And as for being bitter. WG is the guy who entered a warmaster army to the regiments category, I dont think he was entering to win the sword ;) (no offense WG)

I know how disappointing it is to put a hell of a lot of effort into a mini and not to place - I\'ve been trying seriosuly for the last 4 years, every time getting closer... butplease try not to take your frustration out on other peeps :innocent:

pot - kettle - black....?

your first statement implying the judges were visually impared certainly has a tone of whinging!!!!!

Not spoiling for an argument. Just an observation .......

I think WG is making his comments based on his observations for others, not his own.

I don\'t have a problem with staff winning the Open - that was why it was created in the first place

so the Open was created for the staff to win? Guess thats why they keep winning it! :D I have no problem with staff winning either.

SOS......love to see your husband\'s miniatures........does he have an account? Will you be posting them here?

hubba, I paint to stop myself from becoming a raving alcoholic...It shows in my work though, the shakes are a complete bastard!
I\'m content with whoever wins, wins for a reason. Yes there\'s a LOT of top quality astounding work out there. There has to be a line somewhere! Remember you can\'t ALL win!
Accept it and try harder next year, and good luck to all :)

I\'m buying the staffs compliance next year... :p

I aplogise if I came across as a bit strong. I did not mean to cause offence to anyone, so I\'ll back off. I think I should just agree to disagree on some points made here by some people.

And if anyone wants to see either my husbands or my own minitures, look in this months White Dwarf at the Custodes and Sisters article (it\'s all in the name). That\'s us! *polishes chufty badge*.

Also, the Nids in August were mine as well.

Neither Hubby or I have a showcase set up on the internet (I think there are piccies of his on a site, but I unfortunately can\'t remember it\'s address and their his older work as well), as our camera is a bit crap, like our home internet connection! We will be looking into this, though...

Point 1. No I am not after an arguement in fact far from it.

Point 2. I didn\'t enter the open so I don\'t really care.

Point 3. Winning a demon may be very nice but I entered to get me through the door and meet up with all the other CMON Friends I have made since I have been on this site.

Point 4. Winning isn\'t everything it is the taking part that counts. Yes it would be nice to own a demon but I am happy at the moment of having obtained finalist last year and two finalists this year.

All I was saying was that it would be nice for a seperate GW Staff only category where all GW staff could enter regardless of level of painting skill. That way they can have a Masterclass Category for other painters that feel they can tower above the rest of us.

Judges are like referee\'s every body loves to hate them and have a go at tehm for their descissions but at the end of the day it is how they interpret the rules (if there are any).

Oh, and I found a winning formula for getting to the front of the queue for submitting models into Demon.

I was stood with a friend who was having trouble gaining their attention. So I stood next to him and said (very loudly) \"honestly, I\'d wipe my t*ts out if it got you served faster\". It worked then, do you think it would work on the judges?

No offence taken, I entered a Warmaster regiment this year and last year and made finalist each time with a different regiment knowing full well they have no hope in hell of competing with the larger scale but more than happy with the results for them.

@ sister of silence- The custodian army is certainly jaw-dropping!!!! I absolutley love it. It is very original, beautifully converted and painted too!!!

The article also covered painting gold armour. This is something I have always struggled with until reading that and then it clicked. Thanks to you both!

Try and get some pictures up wellloads quick on here if you can!

On another note- complete scratch builds are allowed in any category provided they capture the feel of the warhammer universe, and the sword winner certainly did just that! I can\'t see how people can be aggrieved by a scratch build winning as it certainly takes a lot more skill and effort to produce than a straight out of the blister, or even a complex conversion.
