So they only came out last week did they, Tim? lol

Loved playing with Lego as a Kid. Made all sorts of things. But I have to agree about standing on the pieces with Bare feet, Also sitting on them wasn\'t pleasant either.

Lego was indeed the best damn toy ever invented. I wasted many merry hours playing with the stuff, and most of the time, it managed to fit into my imagination. The technical kits were the best ever, they taught me more about newtonian mechanics than university ever did.

I agree with Iono and Avelorn, too many of the cool sets are filled with too many specialised pieces that are good for nothing except building what\'s pictured on the box. Kinda defeats the whole idea of Lego.

As for the name, me thinks that Lego is a brand name. There\'s no such thing as one Lego, or many Legos. Instead, there\'s one Lego brick and many Lego bricks.

Wait, hold on one sec... it\'s only 50 years old?

Hooray for Lego!
Well Lego is just the name of the factory, so I think it should be called bricks from Lego factory.
Can\'t think of any plural for Lego and I think Danish is similar to German in that case...

I loved to play Lego when I grew up. Best thing I built was a nearly 1m long russian atomic submarine based on the red october, that surely rocked.

I don\'t think that the new ones are to specialized. There are still the normal boxes and then these special stuff like..how do they call it...these mechas..dunno.
So parents can choose what to buy there kids (or for themselves,
:D )

And yes, it\'s real painful to step on those bricks, the smaller the bigger the pain.

Yes I know, that was exactly the same thing that came to my head when I saw that Lego AT-AT...Second thought: I should get some kids soon and then buy them this Lego Star wars boxes as present, hehehe.

You don\'t have to get the specialized sets you can also just get the Brick Buckets or even Bulk Brick Bags as well as picking out specific bricks you want.
I know, but when I were a lad there was no need for a ton of fancy shaped bits. You made your models from the basics damn it. I don\'t have a beef with no longer being able to get packs of the old blocks, I have a beef that there are so many new ones! Keep it simple and pure I reckon. Like this for example.

there is no better reason to have kids!

Hell yeah! I got mine one of the really big pirate ships before she was even born. I even put it together for her just to see if all the bits were there. Aren\'t I a great parent :D

What I miss about lego is the themes. Town, castle and space were fantastic, you could play for hours with Robin Hood stealing the treasure from the knights and the Space Police capturing those Blacktrons. When Pirate lego first came out it was the best thing since sliced bread. I still have my own ship built up and on top of a bookshelf in my old room at my parents house.

Nowadays, apart from the starwars stuf which is quite good, they don\'t seem to have any of that. I mean WTF is Bionicle meant to be?

Bionicle was an attempt to nudge Lego towards action figures and the whole story/comic led end of the toy market...

They have now got the \'Exo-Force\' stuff, which is Mecha through and through (and very cool with it, even if some of it is totally ripped off from Gundam)... worth getting some of it just to get minifigs with cool spikey manga hairstyles! :)

But yes, other than \'town\', they have kinda dropped the overall themes in favour of jumping on the license bandwagon with Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones and all the rest... which is a real pitty.

The other complaint I have is that they\'ve dropped their prices so much.

Sounds silly, but they\'ve de-valued their product by doing so...

I remember when the really big sets were £60 - £70, even as much as £90 for the big train sets and monorail sets... I was in Toys R Us the other day and they had a complete airport with a great big jet airliner for about £50.

Given inflation over the last 20 years it should be well over double that.

Anyway... enough ranting... the bottom line is... Lego still rocks.

And who says you need to have kids to have an excuse to buy it!!! Just buy it for yourself and have fun!!
