To some people, this translates to \"anywhere outside the US\":D

Of course, to others, it translates as \"New York City\":flip:

Well, maybe I am mistaken, but I was under the impression that international credit transactions are more difficult to deal with in terms of fraud protection etc. Or harder to contest anyways. And telling the company to take a flying leap is NOT an option since my husband and I are planning on buying a house within the next year and can\'t afford a problem with credit ratings. So I just try to avoid any problems in the first place by being careful using my credit card online. I do use it all the time, but I am leary of international transactions unless they are involving someone like Amazon.uk, an established company. Even domestically I am careful who I give the number to online... I use it in person all the time of course. It\'s definately getting lots of use, just not in international transactions...

Paypal vs a credit card?

Dunno.. after having read both paypalwarning and paypalsucks and gotten myself thoroughly freaked out about the whole thing, it seems like it\'s easier to contest anything with your credit card than it would be to contest something with paypal. At least, I have never had any trouble (nor heard of anyone else having such trouble) contacting or dealing with my credit card company like people have reported with paypal.

As to contesting an international vs. domestic fraudulant charge, as an example, when I was in Italy with my mother, someone stole her credit card (actually, she accidently left it at a restaurant table and it was \'picked up\' by someone). Anyhow, they did go about charging with it, but because my mother had reported it immediately, she was not held responsible for any of the charges.. (there was actually one charge that she couldn\'t ever decide whether it was hers or not, so she told them it wasn\'t).

FrenchKid, I have accounts both in Euros and in Sterling (and in dollars too, if it is of any interest, I tend to move a lot with my job). So if you want, you can pay me Euros and I will pay them Sterling if that is better for you.
D\'ailleurs je ne sais pas pourquoi je t\'ecris en Anglais puisque nous sommes tous deux Francais...

Yeah, that would be great if you could do that I would really aprciate it. Just wright to me by U2U so we can define the exchange rate. And has for using the credit card on the internet it is usually, just don\'t use it on any of those hackers site and such. ;)
But when I can I just pay by check so that I\'m sure there\'s no problems to worry about. And I have to say that those people at harbinger still haven\'t answered me. Did any1 get an answer to his/her mail ?

I subscribed and sent an email just afterwards saying that I had been charged postage when it should have been free in the UK and I got a nice response within a few hours. :D

Mind you, it would make sound economic sense to look after your subscribers. Having said that, it would probably make even more sense to say \'sod you\' once they had got my money and spent the effort trying to convert people who were \'sitting on the fence\'.

Possibly it was because the accounts dept are twiddling their thumbs at the moment and have time to spare, whilst the sales dept are running themselves ragged.

I think some of the trouble that people are having in getting in touch with the chaps at Harbinger is due to the fact that there ain\'t that many of them working on the mag! Consequently there\'s a massive work load for a small number of people to cover. Things get over looked or forgotten about pretty quickly when you\'re trying to do everything at once.

At the risk or earning the \'pedant of the week award\', only 11 out of 15 countries in the union have adopted the Euro. Britain along with Denmark, Greece and Sweden have elected to retain their own currency.

The really clever countries such as Finland, never even bothered joining the unholy alliance in the first place.

The day Stirling is dropped is the day I emigrate to the States, or Australia or Mars.:p

Well Zaphod, I have to admit that not updating the web site is a bit tardy. The mag should be out next week though according to the big man! Hopefully the proof should be in the pudding (can\'t wait to see if it\'s jam or fruit!).

:D

Was it Denmark where the people voted against the Euro (only just though!) so the government made them go back and vote again to get it right, but they still voted against it? The same happened in Ireland didn\'t it? Democracy, don\'t ya just love it!?

Here\'s a song I wrote the other day. It starts...

\"Tony Blair\'s a cu... \"

Come back Hague (or maggie), all is forgiven!

Err.. as I understand it, Finland did convert to the Euro.. I remember I had a Finnish teacher my senior year in college who was talking about how strange the change was. Doesn\'t that mean Finland is in the EU?

I think Norway is the Scandinavian country that didn\'t join the EU, but they\'re in NATO. :)

I stand corrected...

I knew there was at least one sensible country out there somewhere. For some reason I thought it was Finland. I am possibly getting confused as I know they are the only country with sensible drinking laws in that part of the world.

Yeah... I went to Stockholm a couple of years ago and the drinking thing was a bit odd. I think the wine and beer sold in supermarkets was exceptionally low in alcohol content and you\'d need to re-mortgage to go on a pub crawl... as I remember it cost about £5.00 for a 0.5 litre glass of lager. I was having major withdrawal symptoms by the time I got back to the UK.... nothing a good old fashioned bender didn\'t remedy though :D

What was this thread about again???

Heuuuuuuu, well I think it was somthing that had to do with minis but can\'t remember just what it was. Too much alcohol can induce memory loss. Maybe our friends from finland can remeber somthing :Dlol
