Has anyone else been following the Scott Peterson trial?

Just my opinion, but this guy is slime, the callousness over his wife and unborn\'s deaths is chilling. The lmanipulation of Amber Frey while his wife was missing is also pretty chilling.

If he is found guilty, I hope they implement a new type of death penalty, death by steel toe to the gonads multiple times.

well I\'m just simply in favour of the old life sentence. I believe that spending the rest of your life reflecting on what you have done between four walls is much worst then beeing relieved of all of the troubles of life. Plus I\'m not in the favor of \"an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth\"

If it didn\'t cost a fortune to keep the bastards in jail...

Money that could be spent on schools and hospitals.

Well, if you guys are really that gung-ho about it, we could just revive drawing and quartering.

Personally, he\'s an asshole, and since we\'re never gonna be able to do anything extremely violent to him, just lock him up.

Yes, lock him up in an unpleasant jail. Problem is, most jails today are WAY too comfy. But if you take away his television, music, outdoor time, and books, that would make it a good punishment. He\'d probably go crazy, but still. I would way rather die painlessly than go through 50 odd years with no t.v., computer, books, etc. NOTHING.

EDIT: Just saw your posts, Steve and Frenchkid. With my suggestion, it wouldn\'t cost nearly as much! :D The cable fee alone would save a lot of money. ;)

Yeah, this is pretty much how I feel most of the time, unless I am reeling from a particularly bad case where i want to do something very slow and very painful to the guy. But normally LONG incarceration with no hope of parole, in a very small room with a very small window and bread and water and vitamins. Thats all he needs...

You are all way off target..

The type of death that should be despensed to this lowlife should come in the for of some inquisitional torture forcing him to confess followed by drawing and quartering. Send parts of his corpse to the corner of our land as a grim reminder of what happens to killers and liars. Refer to the end scenes in the movie of my namesake (Braveheart) for the visual of the death I wish Mr. Peterson had waiting for him.

....that still costs the taxpayer about $8000 a week! For how long??Length of rope is much cheaper...;)

Why should I as a taxpayer have to spend my hard earned money to keep someone like this alive when a bullet, a rope, or a couple million volts of electricity is so much better??? You can pray to God for forgiveness, but you still owe society the debt for your actions and in this case the payment should be your life.

i belive prisons should have the inmates grow their own crops and take care of their own livestock. it would save taxpayers a good bit on food at least. making their own clothes and things of this nature would help. i cant stand it when people start defending violent criminals and saying things like. \"the way they are treated is inhumane\". they should have thought about that before they committed the crime IMHO

But yeah, I see what you are saying... I\'m still not sure killing them is the answer though... maybe we need to spend that sort of money... or give them an island to live on and nothing else

well, I believe killing is wrong, no matter who does it. Simple as that. it\'s barbaric and belongs to the middle ages.

There is a prison in the Arizona desert, hundereds of miles from anywhere, that is run by an ex-army drill instructor. The prisoners are provided with a tent and basic amenities, ilke blankets. Their punishment consists of working each day to keep the camp up, and ensure that food and water are provided (through a garden and well they maintain). Good behavior is rewarded by an opportunity to work on public works projects elsewhere in the state, paying back the public for their crimes. There is no walls - only a fence surrounding it, because if they escape, where are they going? Bright orange jump-suits are easy to see from the sky, the desert is big, and the guards all have rifles...:D

Now THAT\'S cost effective!
