I\'d rather have someone doing a job or in a drug rehab program than sitting in a cell getting \"punished\". Jail isn\'t a good expereince I hear, but people just come out with more problems.

So if you murder a murdering, raping bastard, are you better than the bastard? Or are you the same.
I think you mis-enterpretted what I said. It takes a number of different causes, including some which are psycholigcal to create a killer.Originally posted by Gin1906
As to people doing horrible things because of how they were raised, or bad things that happened to them as a child that is complete and utter CRAP!
Exactly why I oppose maximum punishment. ending any one person\'s innocent life is not worth ending the life of millions of other psychopaths.Originally posted by Ritual
The really big problem with death penalties, as I see it, is that if society kills even one innocent person, the death penalty becomes unacceptable. There are a lot of cases around the world where innocent people have been convicted for murder. There are no way of being 100% sure someone is guilty. Even DNA evidence can be wrong. If society kills one innocent man, it\'s IMO no better than any murdering, raping bastard.
Plus, keeping someone on death row for a lot of years, before killing them is just as expensive (if we\'re talking about money) as having them serve jail time.

Two points.
First you want clarification on the relationship between god and killing. It is quite simple. You see I am a Christian and darn proud of it, that means I believe in the Bible. The Bible is a testimony of the love of God and forgiveness through Jesus Christ, however no where in the Bible does it say that forgiveness absolves anyone for paying the penalty for their actions in this life. Read the old testiment, there are detailed punishments for crimes in the Bible. I seem to remember something about \"Thou shall not kill\" being written somewhere in there, and yes there is a huge difference between someone who kills somebody without just cause and someone who carries out the penalty for a crime.
No ! Noooo ! People can get out of mental institutions, and that\'s the last thing we want for this kind of dangerous crazy...Message original : Mosch
Those people don\'t belong into prison though, they belong into a mental asylum, and once again I would be happy to have part of my taxes used for that.

I ask again. Are you a taxpayer? Because if you aren\'t...if you personally don\'t see a third of your wages disappear every month before you even get hold of them, your argument is not only worthless, but mildly insulting to us taxpayersOriginally posted by frenchkid
I do find it amazing that all we are talking about is money. No offense intended:flip:

I don\'t directly pay taxes, wich means I don\'t have to fill in a check every year that goes of to the governement. But I do have taxes that are taken from my salary. So yes in a way I do pay taxes. And frankly it bothers me more to pay taxes for the military then it does to pay the small amount required per personne for the jails.

If it didn\'t cost a fortune to keep the bastards in jail...
Money that could be spent on schools and hospitals.
