Has anyone noticed a size difference?

Just bought and painted the new veteran squad and I was looking at some of my old models to possibly add to this squad, I matched up a few figs and noticed the guy pointing is HUGE lol... then I noticed the rest of the team is bigger too. The guy pointing is at least half a head taller than my old 1999 games day captain.. no big deal ...just wondering if anyvody else has noticed this trend.

Size doesn\'t matter Grey Mouser. lol

But seriously. Yes, I have noticed that the older stuff was bigger. But I think the miniatures from the 90\'s were bigger than the original miniatures.

The NEW stuff is bigger! :) They made it so.. because spacemarines and terminators are supposed to be big. I mean confessor Kyrinov is probably larger than most old metal SM stuff. :)

i have never understood why they made the sm models so crappy and small. they don\'t live up to the hype in the fluff. they should do a set of proper scale ones just for shits and giggles so you can see how scary they should be

Yeah, but I wasnt going to say anything. It\'s not supposed to matter. Right?

Can you imagine if they did do everything to proper scale? Imp Guard would be looking at SM belly buttons who would be a full head, or more, taller than they are currently. They\'re supposed to be like 10ft tall right? They\'d need to go on 30mm-35mm bases or something.

i think the average marine is supposed to be 8\' and scouts about 7\'. i don\'t have any fluff but it seems to ring a bell. anyway - would it\'s be cool if they were like that. as they are, they just look like muscly guys in suits. they should be scary as hell (even for the imperials to look at). giants among men...

Well, I received as a gift last night 15-20 old GW minis - latest date on them is 1988 and I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt they are smaller than current production. The Dwarf berserker is smaller than a Reaper Warlord Dwarf, and the remainder of the figures are more in line with 25-28 mm not the average 30 mm you see in todays stuff from GW.

Well, ive also noticed that minis from GW around 1984 are a whole head smaler than my army, and it jolly annoys me cuz\' their really cool!

I\'ve been hearing this bit of fluff for years. I just picked up my first sm codex a couple months ago and couldn\'t find any reference to them being substantially taller than regular garden variety human. Could the fluff have changed? Did I just miss it?

The mantra of every author / game designer: the current version is the correct one.

what you need is to pick up the real fluff, the old codices all had a lot more to offer on that page. and also some of the black library books add to the stuff. and dont forget about inquisitor, the game that noone plays anymore because the models started to suck.

i haven\'t read any codices. the only info i get is from white dwarf and the odd book. i\'m sure there\'s something in one of dan abnett\'s books (and eisenhorn i think) that they tower over 2 metres tall. i\'ll have a read...

In the old codex space marines (last edition) also where a lot ofinformation about every day life \'n stuff!

Chaper Approved has all the fluff, well had it for the first time. It was the first book out for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader... if I remember I will check when I get home, I don\'t keep mini books from the 80s in my desk.

As for the mini size difference. Biggest place I noticed this was with the Orcs. I took a long hiatus from the hobby. All the orcs I had were from the 80s with just a fwe from the early 90s. I also had a bunch of space orks from when the 4 Ork army books came out (I think it was 4, there was Warrgh, then Ere We Go, then Freebooterz, then they put out a new one that made them all obsolete)... anywah back on topic, I have 3000 or so points of Evil Suns and Bad Moons. Skip ahead to about 2 years ago when GW open a shop in my town and I get back into the hobby, and I pick up the shiney new orcs and goblins minis. Yeah they look great but they are litterally about 2 heads taller, and all muscle. Sure it fits orc but it makes about 8000pts (and how many $).of minis I have look just dumb and small. I was rather frustrated.

I won\'t mention the number of those old minis that aren\'t legal now since the rules have changed 3 times since then....

Hehe...S**t happens lol

And i know that feeling, it happened to my wood elf army: Prewiev list says: 5+ archers in unit

I plan army..

Army book says: 10+ Archers in unit

I scream and cry in anger as all my tactics have been smashed!
