It does seem to be a bit of sour grapes....
If the fine Taxi Cab driver pictured their is so upset about it, why did he emmigrate from his beloved Pakistan?
Maybe instead of coming to another country and decidedly dumping on it, why don\'t they make their Utopia where they live?

Well Canada has very harsh laws.. I remember hearing about a doctor who came from Afghanistan, and she had to get a dead-end job like the others, and it\'s unfortunately not a rare occurence.

I think SV is speaking from teh poit of view a lot of Americans have. People come, then they complain about the country how terrible it is. I saw some things that are true on that list, but instead of complaining all of the time, why not try to fix them?
You know, i\'m just really sick of all immigrants, legal and illegal, that grip and whine and complain about the crappy jobs they ahve to take or living conditions or treatment or any other the othe rcomplaints they have. If the place you immigrated to sucks so bad, move back to where you came from originally. I bet a dollar to a doughnut that virtually none would move back to their original country. After all there is a reason they immigrated in the first bloody place.

Finn\'s 100% correct. Same with doctors. I know one that works at a local hospital that very nearly kiled me, no shit. he imagrated from india. A ton of peope have complained that he\'s an extremely poor doctor, but does anyone listen...Nope. PC wins over the very lives of the people. God bless our great nation!

I have to agree with Shawn and SV on this one. It is sour grapes. Get over it.
A lot of the time it is the immigrants that are causing the problems, then complaining about it. They come here because wages are better, then they are in their native countries, but what happens is they begin to undercut each other, and that causes the wages to drop. Which then causes them to complain about the low pay rates. Some of the blame has to go on the employer as well.

Well just to be difficult I have to disagree. We have similar idiotic laws in New Zealand (not quite that bad). When you have a point based system of acceptance but then wont accept the degrees you base those points on then yes you will piss people off.
What a lot of people who bitch about \"immigrants come to my coutry, mumble mumble\" either don\'t get or don\'t care about, is the vast amount of resources these people have to poor into shifting countries.
Most in fact end up having to sell everything they own for the privilage of shifting to another country.
Many are also lied to be the immigration consultants about the ease with which they will get a job and settle into a country.
And yes I do have to have a chuckle when I hear Americans moaning about immigrants. Hmmmm what is your entire society based upon?

Well its not just American\'s who get annoyed by it. I saw a news report where there were Austrailian wanting all of the Asians to leave their country. Not that they wanted them to stop complaining. They wanted them to leave.
And lets not forget the The anti immigration party of New Zealand. Not every New Zealander is Maori. BUt there seem to be the same complaints.
Korean have had petitions floating around for the longest trying to get American bases and ALL foreigners kicked out. They still try with \'random\' drug test at your home, and other methods of deportation. The test are given because someone said you did it. No real evidence to support the test from what I understand.
And yes America, and Canada, has foundations based on Immigrants. But I don\'t think the Pilgrims came over and said, \'Why in the hell don\'t the natives have more food for us!?!??!?!\"

You are right there is a similar: why do they come here and take our jobs, have sex with our women expect us to treat them with some respect feeling in New Zealand. There is no denying that, it;s the dualism I see in America that amuses me. On the one hand it\'s land of the free, built on immigration, greatest democracy in the world and on the other hand it\'s we don\'t want to here from you if you have any complaints - tough.
And no American settlers didn\'t bitch at the natives, they killed them and stole their land.
As to the anti immigration party, I can\'t say I\'ve ever heard of them and since I studied political science at UNI and take an active part in our elections I wouldn\'t think they could have a large following or influence.
New Zealand First on the other hand do have members in parliment and enjoy nothing more than bitching about asians taking over our country. I think they are a bunch of F&^% heads myself, but hey that\'s democracy for ya.

Well.. I\'m sure you all helped building your countries to prosperous democracy and know all about living in Pakistan.
People will always bitch and moan about things not worth bitching and moaning about. Just as you are doing now. But there is no secret that immigrants are discriminated, having to settle for crap-jobs. If you just lift your *rse from the comfortable seat in front of your computer and pick up the nearest book about sociology you\'ll see it right there. All with nice colourful staples of statistics and infinitive piles of research material. If I was discriminated.. I\'d bitch about it, be sure about that. If I flee from a country where I would be tortured or possibly killed I\'m not automatically signing a document where I give up my rights and choose to stay silent at injustices. In fact you should be glad that some have views in issues that they like to express. You know.. freedom of speach and all that Jazz that some of us like to say once or twice a day when we saying something stupid. How many of you are actually trying to do something about the injustices in your own country and creating Utopia there??

There was a link of the party in my first post. But you can easily google it. I did and got some hits. Maybe we are talking about the same thing and it has a different name.
And as far as native are concerned; Canadians were not too nice to natives either. And no they didn\'t complain. I think they worked on making a life. The killing that came later is a sad fact. The Spanish also wiped out whole cultures in Middle and South America. But you never hear anyone crying indignation over that. Did they have socials in Australia and New Zealand when Europeans landed? I don\'t think the British handed out tea and bisquits during their conquest. Everyone has a dark stain on their country\'s history.
And since I AM AN IMMIGRANT and have had discrimination from North Americans and Koreans. Most of my discrimination has been from Canadians abroad, not in BC. Especially when they think I am trying to say I am Canadian. Which I don\'t. I say I was born American, but I moved to Canada. My home is Canada. Such comments as, \"Well, you really aren\'t Canadian.\" have been the fingernails on a chalkboard to me. My favorite comment was one guy who said, \"Well you didn\'t really move there.\" I simply told him, \"Well my shits there. My job of 8 years is gone, and almost everything I own is either in BC or sold\" Yes. I have sold everything to shift too.
But despite it all, I will do my damndest to contribute and try and be productive citizen. I guess that is the American in me.

I think he was saying the doctor was not as well trained as a doctor from his country. And that is why alot of people don\'t get to be doctors when they immigrate. Would you have a health drink that contained nicotine and caffeine it? You would if you lived in Asia. And it can be bought over the counter. Thus the problem.
And Utopis is an impossible thing to achieve. Everyone\'s idea of Utopia is different. And those tha don\'t get their Utopia will just conplain.

I hope you don\'t get me wrong, I am not saying America has a worse history than anyone else. What I am saying is that in VERY general terms is that America actively tries to portray itself as being more open and tolerant than everyone else but it is often not backed up by it\'s actions.
The early settlers DID complain a lot by the way and in fact the first American pilgrims almost died out because they did not want to change their lifestyle to suit the local conditions. Some in fact wrote that they believed the land was cursed.
And the point about the doctors is still the same - why tell people that they can immigrate because they have a degree but then refuse to accept the same degree when they arrive? It seems disingenuous.

I totally agree with you dude, stop moaning about \"immigrants\", you\'re moaning about something that doesn\'t really affect you. You moan at immigrants - who get the worst deals/jobs when they come into a country - and then you tell them to stop whining? I have never been personally affected by immigrants and I live in an area where they seem to outnumber people born in the country. If I lived in a country where it was bad and I moved over here and got a rough deal I\'d moan till I died. If you don\'t moan you don\'t get things changed.
