Yep! And proud of it babe!

I\'m surprised at what you said about the display screen as the recent Nikon\'s are all pretty big screens.
Having said that I can only use the display screen in the timer mode or playback on my model. (so far).

Liz make sure you register with Nikon, helps maintain your security and guarentees. Plus gets you access to some extras.

Nice.

Find a couple of good books and just take some photos.

And as for the you\'ve got a 90\'s camera that uses film - I\'ve got a Cannon D40, a Nikon and an Olympus point and shoot digital, two Pentax K-1000\'s (From the 1970\'s and they use film), oh and a 1938 35mm that still works.

Cameras are my other expensive hobby.

Don\'t know about the D40 but I manage OK with glasses using the D80, OK so its not like my Fuji and doesn\'t display on the larger screen for focusing (unless there is a way of doing this I haven\'t found yet) but once you press the shutter release the photo is displayed on the big screen for you.

I hope it\'s useful for providing a good foundation mate.

I bought one of those dvds. As you said, next day delivery. I\'ve started watching it and it is good.

Couldn\'t affor the attachments. Got the camera, the lens, the battery charger and that\'s pretty much it. I did get the book suggested as well as the accessories with it and I\'ll probably pick up a few things as soon as I have time and money to do so but right now it\'s got to be better then the little Sony POS I\'ve been using.

The dvd makes more sense of the manual. I mean, the manual is a pretty boring read and so isn\'t conducive to remembering things. After watching the first 30 minutes of the dvd I understood more about the functions than I did before and going back to the manual it made more sense.
