Not so much favorite part as favorite thing...

I NEED ONE OF THOSE GUNS!!

Those of you who\'ve seen it know what I\'m talking about. Those who haven\'t will know exactly what I mean when you do.

:D:innocent:

(Haven\'t seen it yet, so don\'t spoil it) I wish I\'d known it was coming out sooner so I could\'ve read the book. I have a little Idea about what happens, that way I can go around shouting \"42!\" at everyone..

Oh, and Rest In Peace, Mr. Adams...

Chrispy,
If you don\'t have time to read the book, maybe you could get the old infocom game. It\'s the best adaptation of the book (which is an adaptation of a radio script) made.

I don\'t know yet, if i want to watch that film.
The characters look quite unlike the book, especialy Marvin and Zaphod Beeblebrox freak me out. I watched the older movies, and they weren\'t that good also, so I don\'t have much hopes. I could never be as good as the book anyways.

Bunch of amateurs.

The only way to get the real feel for this is to get hold of a copy of the Radio series. It\'s still available on both Cassette tapes and CD. Then go and watch it.

Wow... Yeah Mike is right. I loved the book though, and I loved the BBC series. IT was low budget but to say it wasn\'t good is kind of untrue :D

People mistake budget with not good. Well I demand that I may or may not enjoy the new movie as much as the old.

As for Zaphod\'s head... it\'s rubbish. Should have two heads on his shoulders... Silly Hollywood.

Douglas Adams once was asked what was his favorite version of the story.
He said \"definitely not the miniseries.\"
That said I found it quite enjoyable. I recall Adams also bemoaned ever having given Zaphod 2 heads because while fine on radio, it was a bit too much for the TV people.
He usually preferred the radio series because it was fresh and new and he had his hand in every aspect.

Haven\'t seen the film yet, but in the previews Marvin looks terrible. \"brain the size of a planet\" not Head the size of a planet. It\'s not like he keeps the brain in there. He\'s too smart for that.
Oh well, I guess Warwick Davis didn\'t have much work lately so they stuck him in yet another robot suit.

Meh, I\'ll have to wait until June 9th to see it here in Germany.

...or do I...? :]

I really want to see that movie. I don\'t think there will be too much relation to the book and I know it will not be like I imagined it all, but I want to see how someone else imagined the characters. My idea was always pretty close to the comic, but not entirely the same.
By the way, the audio book was great too, though I am talking about the German one.

By the way, I sometimes feel that I am the only one who actually \"got\" what 42 means...

Apparently so, since Adams himself not only never claimed it had any meaning, but I\'m pretty sure he didn\'t even come up with it himself.

Haven\'t seen it yet, not sure if i will. i always say i\'ll go see a movie, but never really do.

Read the trilogy (all 5 of them) back when i was in middle school... i\'m 20 now, but most of it\'s still there. i\'ve read a few blurbs about the movie... sounds pretty intertaining. Heard they made a pretty big deal out of the guy Zaphod beat out to win the presidency of the universe from... and that most of the movie is So Long and Thanks For All The Fish. Funny thing is, i thought most HHGTG fan\'s biggest grip was that a love story should have never been in the series at all... and that most of the movie is about that love triangle between Arthur Phillip Dent, Trillian and Zaphod. i\'ll probably see it some day... but for now i\'m just going to jump off my roof and forget to fall;) Adams would have wanted it that way

I know he did come up with the 42, and maybe I misphrased what I wanted to say.
I would spoil the simple meaning behind it, but that would be spoiling.... um. Wait.

DO NOT READ IF YOU WANT TO GUESS AROUND THAT 42 THING

LINE BELOW GIVES THE TRUE MEANING:
It\'s a simple joke. It is a random number that is the wrong answer to an equation to show that the earth and Deep Thought had a bug and the experiment did not yield a useful result.

SAFE READING HERE

Well, that\'s all there is to it. I am pretty sure he even said that himself.

Went to see it last week in a free preview and it was worth every penny the tickets cost!

I went to sleep part way through and when we (family) came out my wife said she liked the bit with the guy with the foot/feet (something like that)- I had no idea what she was talking about:D

Effects were pretty good and the original Marvin has a cameo - the new one looks stupid. Boy did it drag!

EDIT and on this less than dramatic note I make senior! - Oh! well:D

All the versions are good. Douglas Adams was a genius. See/hear/read them all and like it. The only bad part of going to see this movie was that I had to sit through a preview of Herbie. Surely they have remade every old TV/movie/book property now and there will be no more movies ever. Get your library cards out.

Heresy!!!

Burn the heretic!

Errr, yeah, sorry folks. I agree with Nomis.

Seems to me you either love Adams or just don\'t see the humour.

I am far from humourless but HGTTG leaves me stone cold...and slightly embarrassed even.

Bit like Rocky Horror show I suppose. I detested that as well.

I am sure no one is interested in my opinion, but I just wanted to make the point that is is okay not to like HGTTG. You don\'t have to hide yourselves away...:flip:

I wasn\'t referring to your comments at all. I was referring to Nomis\' remarks above. Perhaps I should have made it more obvious.

Don\'t go getting paranoid now???:flip:
