Holds 10 marines--my butt!

No, my butt doesn\'t hold ten marines.

I got a Rhino today in the mail. Well, a Chaos Rhino, but the molds are the same. Anyway, in the rules the Rhino is supposed to hold 10 marines and a crew, so naturally I thought the model would be a bit, well, larger.

I mean, it seems sorta\' small. Perhaps it\'ll look a little bigger once it is assembled, but still, I sorta\' feel a little ripped off by GW here. Anyone else ever felt this way?

Why didn\'t they build the tank a little more to scale?

The new rhino is much larger than the old one by far. Of course back in the good old days you could by blisters of units for 10 dollars and 20 dollars got you three rhinos.

Oh piss. Well, that\'ll teach me for buying an older edition model on ebay and thinking I got a good deal!

Just to rub it in, the new rhino has some nice interior detail as well. However, even the new one doesn\'t look like it could hold 10 marines, well, maybe if they were all sitting down and squashed together

Space Marines care nothing for comfort, or heat or cold or crouching for three hours in an unventilated Rhino with a fellow marine\'s ass in their face. It\'s all for the Emperor. Chaos Marines might even *enjoy* the discomfort. There\'s your answer. Also, GW kits are a total ripoff on a money-per-size basis, compared with other plastic model kits. It\'s the game that makes them so expensive (you\'re paying for points on the table).

Well, you don\'t really have to put them in the Rhino, just put as many as you can into it.. keep the others by your side and play as if it were holding 10 marines.

There was actually a modeler who fit 10 marines into the OLD style rhino... it looked cramped, but they were all sitting down. He modeled a full driver area too, with driver/co driver.

They were the old beaky Rogue Trader era marines though, I should mention (don\'t know if that makes a lick of difference, but hey...)

I\'ve seen that done with the old landspeeder crew too.

Most of thw GW stuff is a bit smaller just to help keep the cost down, and to make it feasable to use. Think how big a to-scale Land Raider woulb be.

Using beakies would make a difference as they are a lot less pumped than the new guys, put them side by side and you will see.

using beakies with the old rhino makes sense as they are from the same era! :D I think you could just about fit 10 marines in the new rhino... just...

Ok so the question I\'ve got to ask is: What\'s the problem?
If you\'re using it for gaming then you don\'t have to stick marines in it. Just tell your opponent that they are in.
If you\'re going to model figures in it, then remember that comfort in not in the definition of the designers of a APC. (Every sat in the back of a Saladin. Cramped!)

I actually really like the new rh1no, it\'s a well designed model that goes together easily. The plastic is robust and fairly thick (compared to things like airfix kits) which I presume is to make it more hardy for gaming. It is also only £15... for a 50 pt model, so the pennies for points argument doesnt work here... compare that to the £15 for a squad of 10 marines which is a minimum of 150 points.

I agree it does look very small when you thnk about the size of a marine, plus armour, plus weapons etc etc. But then what sort of fantasy tank would it be without it being a little out of scale.

I always used to wonder if they had to grease the marines up and shoe horn them into the rhinos but that sorta started to worry people so I stopped thinking about it.

Maybe in the game it\'s like a TARDIS:
Bigger on the inside.

If you are talking putting the marines inside, try doing them without their armor.

The interiors of the vehicles always look at tad too small to me. But who gives two shits? It\'s all pretend, unless you\'re actually trying to model the interior with a full complement of marines!

Ah, my complaint was merely that I thought it\'d be a little larger. I really don\'t intend to stuff a suad into it, and I do get the pretend aspect of the game. It simply seemed very tiny compared to a figure.

However, I did pick up an Immolator for the SOB army I\'ve been putting together, and while it still isn\'t going to fit ten figures, it certainly looks much better along side them!

Well, if I can fit 12 people into an old 5 person toyota, a tank can fit 10 marines.

We had a driver, a person in between driver and passenger seats, a person in the passenger seat, along with someone wedged under the dashboard and someone on his lap, 4 people in back and a person lying across their laps, and 2 people in the trunk.
