How do I get to be a Senior?

Where\'s the fun?

Bahh, I remember a day when I\'d jump right into a thread like that without a second thought, for the sheer fun of an argument.
Now I\'m constantly afeared I\'ll cause someone to go haring off into the virtual sunset.
Generally speaking, there\'d be some rants, some tussling, some religious/political mudslinging, and the we\'d sort ourselves out with no hard feelings!

I don\'t think the forums are that much \"harsher,\" rather, it\'s that people are taking themselves far too seriously. EVERYTHING is personal now.....

I suppose I\'m having a hard time adjusting to the attempt at a PC New Forum Order. :D

As one of those wise old coffin-dodgers once said, \"I take offense at your offense.\"

I\'m sorry, but arguing religion is just plain idiocy. There\'s no definitive proof for what\'s right and what\'s wrong. I\'m not even going to bother stating my religous beleifs because guess what? It doesn\'t matter.

Actually, very few things do. If the intraweb was composed entirely of \"relevant\" stuff, it would be a lot smaller. And more boring too.

Nomis, you get to be a \"Senior\" when you have a son and name him after yourself but tack on a \"Junior\"... This shows either great lack of imiagination or lots of egomania. Don\'t even get me started on \"the thirds\"

Bloody religion - you can see why it has caused so many wars....:D

@ Spacemunkie - I just want to thank you for removing the thread. It definately was getting out of hand, for those of you who were not on at the wee hours of the morning. Most people would not have had the sensibility to cancel said thread and would have rather sat back and watch the fireworks. You show true Diplomacy, I salute you.

@ Reverand - I just want to tell you how much I appreciate you not chiming in last night/this morning. You demonstrated a level of self-control I had not expected from you. Were you sober?lol

But seriously, I have only witnessed your gift for delivering a severe tongue-lashing to those that deserve it on one occassion, and that was enough. I have no idea what side you may have taken, and I really don\'t want to. I do not need to see you demonstrate your ability to puree\' someone\'s ego, especially if I were the victim. I enjoy a good verbal duel, but I think I would have been out of my league. :D

My hat is off to you \"Forum Elders\" for having more common sense then I.;)

I\'m quite annoyed I missed it all too! I made my excuses and left at the wrong time lol.

Mr Tay, I\'m glad I didn\'t get involved with it in the end as I fear there are many moderate Christians and Catholic types floating around as well as a fair few atheists. Put all that together and the whole place would go off quicker than an egg sandwich with a grenade inside it. I go to some dodgy theology site on occasions and it gets bad enough there. On a site like this when there are no boundaries set for logical debate on the matter we would be asking for trouble lol.

My most recent post on the theology site was something along the lines of \'Bollocks quite frankly,\' so you can see I get annoyed over there as well. I HATE DOGMA!

Well I have taken a secret oath not to get involved in any more arguments.Theres too many people getting upset over silly little things these days.Me included.
Its about time I got back to my silly old self and not a miserable fat bastard.Ah the joys of Prozac.
Maybe we should have a thread with padded walls and crayons so we cant hurt anyone.Users could just read and say....\"Oh look at them...they\'ve been here that long they have gone positively loopy.Look Rev\'s drooling in his tea.Could someone tell Klute to stop doing that with his genitals.\"
Every now and then an outsider could post something to feed us and then Finn could come in with the meds when we start pulling each others hair.Actually make that DR,I think Finn could well be in a cell of his own.

Spacemunkie -
You cost me at least two post by deleting that thread:D - at the current rate that could delay my seniourhood by a couple of months:flame:

Finn-

Klute-
Don\'t we all have that room? - I guess most of us have greduated from crayons to paint thoughlol

@Tylith, who said something like \"There\'s no proof anybody\'s got it right or wrong\"... Darned straight. Everybody got it wrong! At least, that\'s what I believe. I\'m even writing a (fictional) book on that very subject.

@ Reverend: You hate Dogma? But it\'s such a funny movie!

I read the thread. I didn\'t reply to it. I laughed, I cried, I hurled. Mostly, I shook my head in puzzled bewilderment.
It never fails to amaze me how people are determined to be right.

I used to entertain myself by starting theological arguments on the net, and after an hour of solid debate, would change sides. Everyone was so used to arguing with me by then, that they\'d change sides too. Then I\'d point it out to them that they just said what I said at the beginning, and would promptly get banned from the board.

To sum up my own beliefs, I quote (maybe paraphrase) a poem that hangs in my mother\'s front foyer. Author unknown...

I am I and you are you.
I am not in this world to live up to your expectations,
And you are not in this world to live up to mine.
I do my thing, and you do your thing.
And if, by chance, we find eachother,
It\'s beautiful.

Wait! It was a theological argument? How did I mess that up? :duh: I was all ready to go off on a philosophical tangent - knowledge vs. belief, fact vs. faith, that kind of thing. Sod it, Logic 101 has left its imprint on my miserable little soul. :(

Nomis, you\'re already venerated. Just because the site says you aren\'t yet, it doesn\'t mean that you cannot believe you are. ;)

And on a related note, I get to vote today on whether or not same sex marriages are legal in the state of Kansas.
Alot of religious people are going to vote against it, but I think thats silly.
There is a difference between LEGALLY married and HOLY MATROMONY.
I personally see nothing wrong with giving the LEGAL benefits of marriage to people of the same sex, but my wife sees it differently. \'Course all of her arguments against it are based on religion too. Figures.
What do you guys think about this subject.
