most bacon over here tastes pretty much the same apart from the real quality stuff from farms, butchers and marks and spencer(posh-ish british shop)

Liz, it will taste differnt whoever cooks it. I personally like it fatty and pretty crispy, but some people like it more tender..

Don\'t undersetimate the quality of the product in the final taste dept! A quality cook truly can make everything taste good but quality bacon tastes good no matter who the hell cooks it. Which is why I get the good stuff!

Liz you spent your time living out of a hotel most of the bacon they get is not quality. Get out of London and visit some of the small local butchers that make their own burgers and sausages etc and you can garuntee that they will have decent bacon as well.

Yes, after English bacon, American bacon is a bit of a dissapointment.

Still beats turkey bacon though.

Turkey bacon reminds me of the stuff they try to palm off as veggie bacon it is like cardboard with little taste and if you over cook it to try and make it crispy you might as well just chuck it in the bin.

Hmm... I think veggie bacon rocks, just don\'t think of it as bacon think of it as a completely different food. I do suppose that brands and stuff matter too though.

Bacon; there is only one way to eat bacon.
Cooked over a Meths Burning Cooker (Trangia) in the open, right beside your tent first thing in the morning. Slapped between two slices of bread that have been wiped around the pan you cooked the bacon in and with a fresh mug of tea.
Even been know to make a Vegetarians mouth water.

Eggs I pretty-much have to eat scrambled. I do like them hardboiled as well, especially if made into egg-salad (what a splendid idea for today\'s lunch!) or Deviled Eggs.

Bacon I love - regular American with Rye Toast, or Canadian (English?) style on a sandwhich (like a McGriddle - the only delicious thing on McDonald\'s menu).

And tater\'s... gotta have me some tater\'s with breakfast, either homefried or hashbrowned.
