Eek!

If we don\'t hear from you for too long a CMON search and rescue team with be called in!

At least with a hurricane there\'s some warning, here in San Francisco you can\'t exactly evacuate for an earthquake :(

well, if it swings westward at all I will, but I say BRING IT ON!!

Seriously, I know some people living in Florida and area and I have relatives in Georgia. I hope everyone stays safe.

Batten down the hatches and get your painting gear to a safe place with a backup generator for light so you\'ll have something to do!!

Mmm....I think I may have felt a slight breeze in the morning, but I\'m not sure. Might have just been my fan. :~(

We\'ve been getting some rain related to it, but nothing serious. I\'m far enough removed for it to not be a problem.

Ya\'ll batten down and hang tight!

Wouldn\'t the fact a major storm striking a certain state repeatedly give a hint to the people God doesn\'t want you to live there? :p

Would you rather die drunk and full of nachos, surrounded by your friends, or hiding in your basement with tinned food and a flashlight? Not, I hope, that anyone will die from this...

IPM, TAB, et al. I am up here in Orlando, where we are getting ready for everyone from Tampa to invade us just ahead of the hurricane. Stores out of water. Gas stations out of gas. No propane to be found. Crazy people.

After you have been through a couple, you learn why they have hurricane parties. Not smart, but understandable.

.....

I know how it is for all the hurricanes down there (its one big flat sand thing, so trees fall rather easily, and theres nothing to move the storm about like mountains, so yur hit rather hard with the full force) but back to my point, from friends that still live in florida (up here in rainy, weather skitzo NC) i have heard that they have basically shut down part of the state, mcdill airforse base is now a ghost down, all of sarsota county has been evac.ed and the power shut off. and all the major bridges to anywhere are either closed or have traffic parking lots. I wish you luck (I used to live in Brandon, so not many hurricanes came ou way (odd really see as florida is a very narrow state, but most would hit the east coast then come over, so they had a little cool down time beforehand) with your time through this (i get whats left of the stupid storm up here ;))

cheers

yeah...its ... uh different to have this happen...

pinallas is evacuating a quarter million people all of tampa is under evacuation...mc dill is gone, only mandatory personelle only, all bridges will be shut down some time tommorow...

and it all starts at approx. 12 noon...we get tropical storm force winds 50 mph and at 8pm or so we get the big ens...(estimated at 120mph now.)

those were the days...

Yes the wind (used to love the wind... NOT!) the wind meant i had to get out there and anchor all of the stupid trees with rope with my dad (which meant sometimes climbing in freakin 40 mph winds to get the rope high enough so it would stop the tree from falling on our house!!) and Yea it is kinda odd with my sudden outburst of interest, but i miss florida :(

Living in Baton Rouge, I\'ve seen quite a few hurricanes. Fill up your tub with water and fill any container you can find with water, cause if the electricity goes out it can be days before it is restored.
