Airhead...are you prepared for the storm to hit you? please Please let me know, they are forcasting that it will hit ft.myers and orlando.....its also a catagory 4 now...are you ok?

Hey folks, very quick update... My dad\'s been in the path of this thing north of Tampa, so I called just now to see what he said after reading this thread.
He said it looks like Charley has turned slightly, and so it will go in just a little east of where it originally was slated. It currently is still over water with really high winds, and they\'re thinking if it doesn\'t turn more after landfall it will miss Orlando. I asked about Pinellas where Becca is, and he said its not that far up yet. He didn\'t know any more about Pinellas, sorry.
He said they\'ve been told they should be able to tell more in about 3 hours once its fully landed as to what path it\'s probably going to take.

Ok this went from an o another hurricane, to crap, one of the largest ones to hit the western coast of florida.... O a slightly lighter note one of my friends down there owns a bagel shop, and he opened (in brandon) and as NO ONE else was even remotely going to be open he got swamped and ran out of stuff because theres nothing left to buy. The ATMS are all empty, no gas, no nothing. Hope you are safe down there becca

good news...the storm took a dramatic turn to the right....into ft.myers...which sucks for them, but we should be safe

just tropical storm type stuffs

Thanks for the care (really). We\'re fine. Had to take care of some things, but we are all in now for the night.
We had to pick up some friends of my daughters that live in a mobile home. They had mandatory evacuations. Cleaned up around the house - put patio furnature up against the house out of the wind. Mowed the lawn because it will be wet for the next few days.
Peggy went to the store (zoo) and got some more last minute supplies. We are all battened down and ready to ride it out. Last call was to hit here between 8:00 & 10:00 tonight.
We\'ll keep you posted as the evening progresses. No D&D tonight.
First outer band just went across with tornado warnings & lots of rain. As Becca said, just tropical storm stuff right now. Hope this thing looses steam as it comes ashore.

it really is amazing that i woke up this morning. fully expecting to have the area around us anihilated...and now...it probally wont even rain...
is there anywhere on earth where the weather is nice all the time? like london,... i dont mind the showers....would that work...i think i should move.lol

So now Becca\'s safe but we have to worry about airhead ? It\'s sure nerve-wracking to be a CMON member. Using up all that good stress that I should save for job interviews & stuff.

actually, the fact that it made landfall early is a blessing for us as well. Those things tend to loose steam pretty quick after they are off of the water and onto land. That puts about 200 miles of land for it to cross before it gets to us. It is also late in the day so it is not gaining anything from the sun now either.
It certainly won\'t be a Cat 4 storm by the time it gets to us. Bad yes, but hopefully not severe.
