Firstly, did you explain that your Dad works nights? If so, then feel free.

Go to the local Doctor\'s office or hair salon and check out the magazines. Find the card that has \"check the box for more information from our advertizer\" Check them all and put his address and phone number in. Check the \"feel free to call me\" box.
Or just subscribe him to gay porn. A copy of \"Hairy Bear Play\" arriving in his mailbox every month will teach him a lesson.

NSA\'s on the right track... but there\'s worse.

Find out his email address.
Do a google search for the word \'subscribe\'.
Enter his email address on every single site.
Yes, it\'s time consuming. But it\'s worse for him.

Originally posted by MoschWhile you are right, my father has been working at night for several years now, and he deals with it pretty well. But that answer I got just made mad. It\'s not against the law. Well, it\'s right, but would it hurt him to try to be nice? Had he told me that he\'d be done in an hour, I\'d have said fine and thank you.
What I have not yet told you is that once he actually asked me to turn my music down, which I did (it was in the evening too, by the way). Minutes later I hear loud turkish flute music coming from his living room.
We even helped him move in, for christ\'s sake! Is it too hard to be a little considerate? And by the way I don\'t think it\'s cultural differences, he\'s about ten years older than me and has always lived here in Germany.

Also, I know for a fact that he\'s a Muslim ;)

Man, that thread is good, I feel the rage in me slowly fading, and believe when I say that that\'s a pretty rare occurence.
OK, he\'s got a last chance. His kids wake me up tomorrow morning? I put on my Gi and Hakama. He says he\'s sorry or just stops his bullshit? He\'s free to go.

Strangely, it\'s sort of a relief to know that this sort of thing also happens in other countries and it\'s not just us ugly Americans who have these problems.

Man, that thread is good, I feel the rage in me slowly fading,

I had a guy wrong me to the tune of 400$. I was CONSUMED with \'rightous\' rage. He had clearly wronged me and then stuck me with the bill!! My imagination began to drege up some pretty nasty solutions............I was miserable. His error became my error. Bitterness and resentment are like taking poision and hoping the other guy dies. Being right dosent change that principle. Resentment is EXPENSIVE to your own soul......I have had alot of first hand experience.

As far as the situation your in goes, polite persistance may be helpful. Keep gently reminding him of the effect he is having on your father and could he please stop. When we explode at someone the initial cause is then demoted or lost alltogether. The confrontation becomes about \'winning\', \"he cant do that to me!!! I\'ll show him!!!\". Simply, gently (It\'s hard to do) informing the person leaves the ego defending out of it. All they are left with is the knowlege of what the effect they are doing is having instead of \"oh YEAH? WELL F#$K you too\". There is no guarentee this will work but I think it has a better chance than retaliation.

One final thought that occurs to me is, an odd one, see if he needs some help with whatever he is using the drill on. He may find it harder to ignore a friend than a foe.

A well-known hippie once said \"if anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other also\". Extreme perhaps, but I think the basic point is that revenge doesn\'t really do any good. The idea of creating noise to retaliate against a noisy neighbour should be more about assertively letting them exprience firsthand how irritating THEIR behaviour is.

I had a neigbor the last three years that would complain about the SLIGHTEST thing. Anytime I went to hammer something, or use any kind of power tool she would come over and complain. The thing is, she would complain no matter what time of day or night it was, well BEFORE 9PM in most cases. She goes to work at 5AM, so she\'s usually home by 2 in the afternoon, so I would have to do any work during those hours. Funny thing is THEY would make noise at ALL kinds of crazy times, and her boyfriend would start his HARLEY DAVIDSON in the garage. Did I mention I lived in attached houses, and MY garage was converted into a bedroom for my son? He would start the thing up at 6AM on weekends, waking everyone in my house up and shaking the stuff off the shelves in my son\'s room. I NEVER complained to her, but SHE would complain about my son\'s music EVERY night (before 9), even though I couldn\'t hear it in the NEXT ROOM! The last time she complained, my son had it so low you couldn\'t hear it outside of his bedroom door (he uses his computer, he doesn\'t actually have a stereo). When she came to the door, I told her I didn\'t hear anything. She said \"Yeah, but I know it\'s on\". It seems she couldn\'t hear it either, but she could FEEL the vibration from the subwoofer from one floor up and on the other side of the building! About a month ago her boyfriend threw her out; I guess he realized what a miserable bitch she was too. When she came over to tell us the \'sad\' news, it was all I could do to keep a straight face and not leap into the air in pure joy.

I have neighbors on the other side of me too, and when I ask them they tell me they never hear anything from my house, and they were pretty happy to see her go too. I hope your situation has a happy ending as well, Mosch.

Whatever you do, don\'t hide frozen shrimp in his shower rod... :D
Or sprinkle baking soda around his doorway and call the drug police...
Or, and this is seriously bad news, DO NOT put open beer cans in the back seat of his car and disable one of his brake lights. THAT WOULD BE BAD!

I find the 1812 overture to be preferable to the william Tell one, but that\'s only because I have the version with cannons.

If he has a car the other thing to do is to Wire a fish onto his exhaust box. That should make the car stink for about 3 months, until the fish has rotted off.

My enquiry if he would be so good as to not be so loud tomorrow when my father needs to sleep was answered with \"The law allows it\". True, it does.
Just to make sure, are you sure about that? I\'m asking because not long ago, I thought the same thing about french law; that you had to stop making noise before 10PM. But actually that\'s just tradition and our law says that you can\'t annoy anybody by making noise at any time of the day (common sense makes you warn people before and get their agreement).

I know our laws are quite different but if your neighbor is moronic enough to give you such an answer, maybe having the police on your side could help.

The magazine subscription thing is funny. The e-mail thing seems hard to get. The porn thing might get you in more trouble if he has children.

It\'s OK. His wife just came over and asked me when my father would get up (the poor guy came home early today and is sleeping right now, by the way). So I don\'t get to be a bastard after all.

Also, that fish thing is stupid. Try fox urine lure in the air conditioner :p

Ah, ah, Michelle! You\'re aware that they\'re moslem? How much insult are you trying to cause here? Wars have been started over less than this.

\"My father also had a great idea. You know how those guys are Muslims? We could keep pigs. A whole lot of them, just in the garden. As soon as it gets warmer, barbecue season! A pig a day keeps the neighbour away We should also invite him and ONLY serve pig. Then look shocked when he says he can\'t eat it. Then, the next day, ROAST A PIG AGAIN. Bwahahaha.\"

OK I know its not polite to use someones religion or faith against them but be damned if that didnt make me piss my pants with laughter.lol
