I pissed off another girl...or why I can\'t find an intelligent women

Ok, I have been talking to this girl for a while well I am sure after tonight she does not want anything more to do with me. Frankly I think it is due to the fact she is unintelligent. I guess I should have seen the signs. She never went to college, she only like reality TV, has no hobbies, and her favorite social activity is getting drunk.

Now while I have my masters and am sort of an educator I will be first to admit I am not the brightest bulb in the box, but come on there are just some things I expect a girl I am dating to know.

Such terms are Cod Piece, or what Herery the 8th was known for or heck even who Nero and Caligula were! Is that to much to ask. I mean is it to much to ask? I mean I just want to have a conversation that does not entail her complaining about her day.
Rant off!

i married a girl much like you talk of. not so bad. at least she can burn toast properly now.

but my 6 YO is going to be trouble soon. already has her running around in logic circles. lol

i don\'t think a well educated knowledable girl would want a bar of me anyway. i\'d reckon most of those types of girl would be rare and very fussy.
not that i rememeber meeting any recently.

I\'m sorry wtf are you complaining about? So you were dating a girl and she isn\'t compatible - wow. Do you expect every woman you meet to be a perfect match for you?

Sorry if I sound a bit harsh but it sounds like another \"what is wrong with women\" moan to me. This one didn\'t work out go find another. If it has happened before then perhaps you need to change what you are doing.

botches

first of all, i don\'t think every girl in the world knows exactly what they want, and on the other hand, maybe it\'s good to take time out for your own self, so as to become completely happy and satisfied with oneself before being able to know exactly what you are looking for, and then the stones should fall where they should...but thats just my take on things...good luck with \'em botches(supposed to be a censored slang)???

Little suprice for you. Not all guys are highlights as well (go into a bar as a girl and you will for instance notice not all man actually tend to use brains at all for \"thinking\"... it seems to have shifted down south and overrun all forms of intelect).

There are a lot of woman (and men) in this world. Of all shapes and sizes. So if one doesn\'t fit you (which is a large chance as there ARE a hell of a lot of people to meet who don\'t fit the bill)... just go on to the next. There are just to many people not to be able to find someone who does match... jou just have to put efford in it... They are not generally gonna come out of the blue

There all sorts of types of intelligence. I had an ex who had a first class honours degree and a Phd in chemistry and could speak 2 languages fluently, however I doubt she\'d have known what a cod piece was nor do I think she had a great knowledge of Henry the 8th.

I fancy someone at the moment (sadly I don\'t think the feeling is mutual :~() who doesn\'t really know anything about politics or computers... or a lot of other subjects. But she has a degree, can speak 3 languages fluently and is a trainee accountant. I think it\'s unlikely she\'d know about the things you listed.

I think this person is just not compatable with you. Perhaps you kind of knew this when you started going out? If you don\'t get on and don\'t find the conversations fun then I don\'t think it would have lasted long anyway so not much loss really in my opinion. I do appreciate it\'s not easy finding someone who is compatable, I really know from experience.

It sounds to me like you think you are better than her just because you have slips of paper to prove you are intelligent.
So what if she watchs reality TV, my girlfriend does, and the soaps. But i (through choice) dont have a TV, does this make me more intelligent, i don\'t think so, its just different tastes.

Im studying on a degree course and she works in a travel agent, i could say i am more intelligent because im in \'education\' but if i went to do her job i wouldn\'t have a clue what to do.

General Knowledge doesnt really make you intelligent IMO either.

I dont think you are more intelligent, and what you have wrote sounds a bit insulting to her. I just reckon you expect more.

Sorry but thats just my two pence.

I can sympathize. I dated a girl way-back-when who wasn\'t entirely the brightest thing. And yes, I found that raw intelligence seems to be a tangible barrier to a relationship. Not just lack of education, but a certain thickness combined with an unwillingness to learn. Not just an ignorance of who Nero or Caligula were, but the opinion that merely knowing about them is silly and pointless.

Example: one time she told me that scurvy is caused by lack of sunlight. I tried to explain to her what scurvy actually is and what causes it, but she would have none of it. She started crying because I didn\'t trust her; the fact that I knew something and rejected her false explanation of it brought her to tears.

And don\'t be too quick to shun certain entertainment as more fitting of a lower intelligence. Like matty1001 said, it\'s just different tastes. Like, say, if someone were to call one childish for painting toy soldiers. :D

My wife and I are on a very similar intelligence (wit?) level, and it has made for 12 very entertaining years of marriage. I think you\'ll be happier in the long run if you find someone that you consider closer to your intelligence, but don\'t be condescending about it. Good luck!

So you\'re looking for someone with a good amount of general knowledge? May I suggest the nearest pub quiz? ;)

Joking aside, there are lots of different kinds of intellect, but I think that as a rule, more educated people often have a wider range of \'general\' knowledge. Not always, but often. It depends on their interests outside their subject of research. And it seems that that was the main difference between you and this lass- you had different interests. You knew about cod-pieces, she could probably quote exactly who was doing what and with who in one of her shows. Ultimately, people learn about what fascinates them.

On a side note, I went to an interesting lecture about artificial intelligence a while ago. After much discussion, the main point seemed to be that we\'re going to have a hard time recreating something we can\'t even define right now. There is no consensus on what exactly constitutes intelligence at the moment.

H\'mmm. I had a boyfriend like that a long time ago. He was a lot older than me (6 years), and I think he resented it when I knew more than him. He\'d dropped out of school at 16 with fairly low grades and I was doing my \'A\' levels when we met, so I was a lot more educated than him. He used to randomly misuse words (something that I hate), and then argue with me when I tried to tell him if he\'d made a mistake.

Oh, and he was a bus driver, but he tried to make it sound like brain surgery...

I\'ve read this thread and especially the opening statement several times.
I\'m sorry to say that I have little or no sympathy with your point of view here.

We are all different and despite your expectations that she know who Henry VIII , Nero or Caliguila are, being unable to define their place in history may not be of any relevance to her life.

I don\'t have a degree, I\'ve never been to university and the only colleges I have attended have been for night classes, so am I unintelligent?
I seriously hope not, or my membership of Mensa is a waste of time.

ok....I know what and who these are....and I \"Know\" I\'m short a few straws in the broom :drunk:

Mail Order Bride= blowup doll ;)lol

Blowup doll huh...nah I could just buy one of those new balls I say at Kaybee toys....they took a Koosh ball cut it open turned it insiade out and you end up with a round ball with a hole in it that is surrounded by all these soft apendages.
And I thought the Harry Potter Vibrating Broom was bad!

I for one would never equate a degree with intelligent nor would I ever say someone with only a HS degree is automaticaly a moron. I am just venting among other intelligent people about my lament to find a smart woman. For once I was not trying to offend.

Exactly, you don\'t need slips of paper to prove you are \'intelligent\'

Well i would be pretty pissed if i called my GF beacuse of a lousy day and wanted some comfort and was like \"Hey baby, i had such a bad day at work today...\" and she cut me off with \"Please, cut the complaining. Lets talk about cod pieces!\"
Relationships are about sharing life. If she had a shitty day, its something important in her life at that moment, and you should want to be there for her and to help her through it. Maybe if you show her compassion and empathy when listening to her problems, she will take a little more interest (or atleast pretend to) in what it is that matters to you (in your case, historical crotch protection)

I think you were right about one thing though. You guys arent right for each other, and that is due to the vast difference in intelegence. Though im not sure you placed blame correctly.

You\'d be surprised how many people don\'t know what a codpiece is... I am every time I have to explain it :D

Anyway I know from experience that education and intelligence aren\'t all that strongly correlated. There are a lot of people in my university classes who sound like eight year olds at recess when they talk to each other... native English speakers who can barely string four words together in a way that makes sense.

Having a degree doesn\'t mean you\'re smarter than anyone, it just means that you were at least average in your classes for X number of years.

And hey, when you look like Tom Selleck in your avatar, who needs a degree ;)
