Ideas on Wyrd Painting contest themes .. gimme some input folks.

when this new one starts, are we limited to a specific company?
personally i dont care what category the next one is. as long as i know about it before its to late :D

i kinna like eric\'s idea... only problem i see with that really is a lack of creativity altho knowing u guys im sure there will be some pretty sweet looking models and ideas!

Lemme see...

1. Bark at the moon – for creature feature (or Monster Mayhem?)
2. Musclebound Oafs – Or ‘your such a warrior’, I really can’t get into ‘beefcake’
3. Undead Fandango is perfect, no changes needed
4. Hallow’s Eve – or ‘Samhain’ (I think Wiccan would like this one), or ‘Things that go bump in the Night’ (a little long).
5. Knight fever – would be a good name for a knight contest (obviously)
6. Mechanika – or ‘gearheads’ maybe? Cool contest idea for machines.
7. Dragon your ass – or ‘Cold-Blooded Contest’ maybe? Self explanatory.
8. The devil you say? – A demon contest. Or ‘All Hell’s breaking loose”

These were all other people’s ideas with some name changes. Her are mine –

Christmas in Hell – A fun holiday contest
Springtime for Hitler – An ode to Mel Brooks, or ‘Spring is in the air’ (a bit boring)
Surprise party – A diorama idea where the theme is an unexpected ‘surprise’
Don’t look in the basement – An ode to modern horror movies
Tomb Raider – An Egyptian/desert/Indiana Jones theme.
A head of the game – A theme where the model has to have a bloody head (Any GW model should do) :p

I soooo want to be in this one. You can go with a \"you must do this mini\" contest, like the shark, but only one a year. It\'s fun to see how different people come up with different ideas for the same model.

And here I thought FF posted here to help refine his ideas. I think he\'s got ideas to last the next several years now! I don\'t know how he\'s gonna pick, guess he\'s gonna have to have is kids pick from a hat again!lol

Christmas in Hell sounds cool, or hot, whichever you prefer...

I also like the \'a Head of the Game\' idea. The whole miniature cliche\' thing would be cool. Another could be \'The Classic Pointing minature\'

Thanks for the ideas folks, there were some interesting ones in there that I\'m going to mull over - certainly going to snag the \'Grim Fandango\' though.

I\'ll try and answer a few questions while I\'m at it. The future contests are going to be open to everyone and all miniature ranges instead of like the first, where I chose a single miniature and then everyone did their own take on it. I expect this will open the contest up considerably and allow for a bit more expression and choice when it comes to miniature selection. To answer Levdir\'s question, yes, if you sculpt your own miniature, you can submit it.

To be a bit clearer about it, the contest will have a THEME (such as everything undead, everything male .. ect) and within it there will be catagories (such as Best of Show, Best Base Diorama, Duel to the Death .. ect).

Eh, I\'ve pretty much already got the decision down, just lining things up and getting everything worked out in my head before I start with the \'hat in hand\' and announcing the contest. Using the forum as a sounding board for the most part.

@ EricJ

Interesting idea - might make that a catagorey, something to ponder.

Of course that being said, I don\'t think I want to go too off the wall for the first couple until I manage to get everything established, the kinks worked out, and the support in place (whooboy ..).

FF - I\'m looking forward to your next competition!! I do like the idea of once a year everyone doing the same figure just to see all the different ways people interpret the mini.

As always, if you need any help tallying votes, etc. feel free to give me a shout.

P.S. For you newbies out there, I\'m going to suck up to his kids so hopefully they\'ll pull my name out of a hat for a schmuckette prize b/c I know there\'s no way I\'m gonna win one any other way! :D

Undead Male Monsters painted only in blues & greens lol or - even more challenging - purples & lime green!

Seriously, though, they all sound pretty interesting and your last one looked like so much fun, you mihgt even entice me to enter. ;) I mean, WTF, every contest can always use more people on the bottom rung, right :rolleyes::duh:

hey what about a \'got balls?\' category where the mini has to be a fantasy football mini/ sports mini...........we don\'t see a lot of those minis painted up do we?

\"Boys with balls\" is a contest I have had in mind since before we \"met\" and I am so thrilled it tickled your funny bone.Yet I would appreciate it if you refrained from the coined phrase.
We want to make it a yearly celebration on the \"Hersey con\" date or there abouts anybody remember that last year???
So with out further ado stay tuned for an announcement :D
