Ideas on Wyrd Painting contest themes .. gimme some input folks.

Sorry Tracy. That being said, I did just \'toss it out there\' and gave you credit as we were talking about it - and no I don\'t remember the full conversation but apologies none-the-less.

Taking it to PM.

Just thought of another CMON inspired category...

Darwin at work - The theme would be a mini about to do something INCREDIBLY stupid, could be combined with my \"Don\'t go into the basement\" idea. :)

How \'bout:

Into the Knight (interesting conversions, there)
Undead Man\'s Party

FF - I agree with some of the others that having 1 a year or so that was the same mini for everyone would be a good idea. I truly enjoyed seeing all the versions of the wereshark.

As a newbie to the Wyrd Painting Contest, is there anything I need to know about content, catagories, etc, or is that all still being worked out? I\'ve been wanting to do a duel scene for ages, and it\'d be useful to know if/how it\'d fit into the catagories, but if they\'re not defined, I\'ll either leave it or do one and enter it wherever it fits. Thanks!

As there\'s only been one, newbies don\'t exist yet chap :D

BALLS

I love my balls (got two rugby ones, one football and a little \'throwing at people\' ball).

BALLS!

(laughing)

Leave it to Rev to lighten things up (looking for bat to his said balls with).

:p

Alright, just a bit of information for all of you on the fence waiting right now. I will likely be announcing the next contest within the next week or so to start up officially somewhere between the 15-20 (as time permits and I get things squared obviously).

The contest and all its information will be announced upon the website and the various forums and hopefully spread from there. I hope to make it a fun one.

Right now I am securing sponsorship through various companies and manufacturers and at last count I believe I had eight of them on board, hopefully more, but still, they have all been very supportive and enthusiastic towards this contest.

The contests are going to be run quarterly, as long as interest and sponsors are available. At the moment we are going to go with a \'theme\' which will be open to all manufactures and sculptors.

As the single miniature has been of such interest to so many individuals, I am planning on doing a contest of that manner once a year. Whether that runs side by side with the other contests (as a catagorey on its own) or on its lonesome remains to be seen.

I appreciate the ideas and comments that have been put forth here! Keep them coming, they have been great for use as a sounding board for me.

I kind of prefer a zombie theme called \"Dead Man Walking.\"

Add my vote to the once per year everyone does the same mini contest (unless it\'s redundant with the CMON contest).

Someone mentioned colors and I don\'t think that\'s a bad idea. Pick a set of colors; people can paint whatever mini they want provided it\'s in those colors. e.g. Purple and green, any shades but no other colors (except possibly metallics).
Not a sermon, just a thought.

\"Zombies Ate My Catagory\"?

I like the idea of a colour-resticted catagory, as long as it\'s not yellow. Eep.
Edit: And perhaps a three-colour scheme? \'Twould provide a bit more flexibility for the painter, though that might defeat the purpose.

Please don\'t use the word \"bugger\" on the same forum as a picture of Michael Jackson...

Point taken lol

I\'m keen to join this competition if it\'s the right subject because I\'ve got a plan! I\'ve got a real desire to paint if I can just implement my ideas...

Hehe!

Rev getting involved?

On another thread he claimed to have been \'helpful\' to someone...

Could this be the end of an era? :]

Or is Sturmies recent good mood just infectious? ???

You feeling OK there fella? Somebody take his temperature ???

(laughing)

Well, I have to say that is a first, and yes, Rev, likely you\'ll be able to impliment your theme but I\'ll make the official announcement here in the next few days while I finish up some web work and and working over the sponsors.

:p

Right now the sponsors of the Wyrd Painting Contest are: Urban Mammoth, Woodland Scenics, Ginfitters Gnomish Workshop, Groundforge, Gamers Quest, Wyvern Games, Darksword Miniatures, Freebooter Miniatures, Dark Forest Miniatures and Reaper Miniatures.

Can\'t wait to make the announcement and see what ya\'ll come up with. The swag hasn\'t arrived on my door step as of yet but from what I\'ve heard and talked about it sounds like a lot of great stuff and the folks involved, big and small, have been very generous. Can\'t say thank you enough!

Anyhow, again, I appreciate the feedback on this - helped me clear up a few things and to plan for future contests. Thanks.
