Ink in Dropper Bottles

Now I\'ll really show my age lol

A long time ago when GW was still producing paints and inks under the Citadel name the very first inks they brought out were in dropper bottles very similar in size and shape to Vallejo model colour.

Does anybody know of anybody that produces a good quality range of inks in dropper bottles or are these deffinately a thing of the past now?

My two (black and blue) but especially the black are starting to run low now and i have long since run out of brown and yellow as they are the colours I use for bone and fur and some woods.

I know Foundry do the old shape paint pots do they do the inks as well in the dropper bottles?

WG,

1. Try Reaper\'s new Master Paints in black blue and brown liners. Not quite inks but close.

2. Get the newer GW inks and pour them into empty RMP or Vellajo bottles. (you can order empty bottles from Reaper with little skull agitators)

The beast in your sig looks like a variation on the Vulcan Phalanx system?

winsor and newton do them in actuall dropper bottles with glass drppers in the lids like the old chemistry set type things. they are pretty cheap and have strong pigmentation. although i have only used them a bit, i reckon they\'re worth a try

I did think of transfering the newer inks into the dropper bottles but

a) it would be very messy
b) I don\'t think the bottle would seal very well afterwards.

Not sure about the reaper bottles you mention though might have to look into those.

The beast in my sig is much the same as the Phalanx however it is much moore acurate
During trials of it they had to modify the control system to spread the rounds otherwise it was putting 5000 rounds through the same hole as the first bullet lol and consequently wasn\'t taking out the target by destroying it completely

However both systems do the same job and are a last resort to an incoming missile that wasn\'t taken out by long range stuff or diverted using chaff.

Thanks Freakinacage I need to go into Hobbycraft tomorrow so I will look out for those. Although I have only seen the W & N in glass bottles no droppers.

have you tried looking in that art shop in town? its in one of the arcades opposite the walkabout/life/philly etc. may have some in there

I put my old GW metalics and inks (the terrible bottles with the octogon shape - prior to the flip tops - into Reaper bottles. Yes, it could get messy - work over paper plates and wear rubber gloves. But after it was done, it was much better than the original bottles (that always leaked)

You pop the dropper nozzle thingy out of the bottle (actually it comes separate in the Reaper ones) and fill up the bottle. Wipe down the bottle with a paper towel if necessary. Drop in the skull. Pop in the dripper nozzel. Screw on the cap. Done.

If you are looking for dropper bottles in quantity, try Western Plastics - very close to vellajo bottles.

I\'ve still got my old inks (they were sold as the \'expert set\'....but I still bought them!) and I still use them periodically.

The bottles are about half the size of Vallejo\'s but very handy indeed.

Try the Daler Rowney ones... They\'ve got droppers.

I love the GW ink, but hate the bottles. It is not realy a problem to switch them over. Here is what you should do. Put the empty bottle in a clamshell plastic like you would get from Confrontation or WM. Then just pour in the ink. Any that dribble down can be poured back in using the corner of the blister as a spout.

Which arcade? one oposite the castle or the one with the Cardiff Games shop in it?

I try to stay out of town as much as possible otherise its a nightmare getting in and out and parking especially on weekends

Off topic story: When I was in college there was a strong ROTC presence and the role players and war gamers often played together. I was able to play a non classified version of the navy\'s war game system. It was a double blind system with a third room for the referee. To make a long story short the enemy could go nuclear, and basically any loss would mean defeat for our team so we were extra parinoid. After spotting and destroying one enemy sub, another surfaced and launched a missle. From the other room, someone from the opposite side complained loudly \"It was destroyed by a machine gun?\"

Yes their one nuclear device was finally stopped by the Vulcan Phalanx. We sailed in to victory at that point.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread, already in progress.

Thanks Scott I have heard some very good reviews of these on the Masterclass sight and they are said to be far superior to W & N and the GW inks.

Supervike yes they are normally smaller than the Vallejo bottles the exception was the black wich came in larger bottles twice that of the normal coloured inks - guess they thought people used more black ink than the other colours

I use the white loads for stencilling. You\'re right - it\'s class.

I use it to thin white paint and still get really good coverage, and as a glaze to get a cloudy glass look. Only tried it over blue, but I\'m sure it would work well over green or grey

I actually have 8 of these inks, and to be honest I think they changed the way I paint - my last couple of figures were done with the assistance of these inks

Use a syringe to transfer the inks. That\'s what I use to transfer all GW paints and inks to dropper bottles. No mess necessary, but still take the precaution of working over a paper plate.

I take it that stenciling you mean other than on mini\'s or do you use it for painting on paterns on cloaks and tatoo\'s etc?

Try www.renaissanceink.net. I\'ve started using their white and it is good to work with. The bottles are 1 fluid ounce, and there is enough in them that you shouldn\'t have to ask this question for another 15 years.

no the other end of st mary\'s street, by mill lane. it\'s got all kind of stuff in there and the staff are really helpful.

it is a pain in the arse getting into town. i just cycle now - it\'s cheaper and much quicker (and more fun) although you are a little out of the way to cycle aren\'t you?
