Inquisitorial Henchman (fantasy priest conversion)

Just a simple conversion to make this great model fit into the 40k universe.

I\'m trying to paint him to the best of my abilities which can be quite frustrating at times...

The mini is still WIP so I\'d like to hear your comments and suggestions. :)

Cheers.

wll let me start off by saying that, the metalics, particularly the gold on this mini are superb in my esitmation. a great paint job is easily ruined but less than PERFECT metallics, especially by me ;-). regardless, you have struck the nail on the head here. I can see the use of very smooth washes. I am asuming that the black undercoat has a bit to do with the effectiveness of the gold and silver.

IfI were to offer a small suggestion, I would go a bit further with the shading on the silver sections. The gold is spot on, but maybe its just me eye but i think th silver could do with a little extra rich shading in the rescesses!

well done, looking forward to the final result here

Cheers:beer:

Thanks for your kind words Backstabbeth! :D

Actually the metalics were shaded with washes and then received various glazes to achieve a more weathered and varied look. I can post the recipe if you want.

Silver metalics are a bit darker in real life but they ended up quite shiny in these pics. I will consider altering some highlights/ shades later but I\'ll do it after I have finished painted the mini so I can get an idea of how the colours tie together. I hope I\'ll be able to post an update soon.

Love this figure - and what you\'ve done so far :)

Particularly the embossed =I= on the warhammer :)

More progress today!

I\'d like to thank everyone for their comments. You keep me motivated!

@DaN: All =I= symbols are Forge World brass etch pieces. I\'d have to say that the Daemonhunters brass etch set was the best value for money FW product I\'ve ever bought. :p

@mick22: Actually I was browsing the tutorials section of that site today looking at a basing tutorial. Im glad you told me about the metalics tutorial though as I hadn\'t noticed it.

Granddad!
that\'s OK, Jacob has some great tips on his site
It\'s good to see how differently people work, the mini feels \'odd\' to me, but that\'s simply because I paint the face/flesh first.

anyway keep up the good work

Actually I used to paint the face first myself but thought I should try GW\'s advice to paint the face last so you can have an idea of how the flesh ties with the rest of the mini. At least if it doesn\'t work I can blame them. :p

wel its lookng pretty sweet to me. Are you gonna have some cracked flesh, redness or anything where the tube goes into his head?

Now that was a fast reply Backstabbeth! :D

I was thinking about glazing the flesh aroung the tube with red and purple washes. Not sure if it\'s gona be more red or purple to be honest. I\'ll let the rulle of cool be my guide. ;)

looks grezt. part of me wants you to keep the head black though as if he is wearing some kind of synthi skin

Actually many people have suggested that the head looks good in black. I would try it if I could pull it off correctly but I\'m afraid I can\'t. I\'m itching to try the face painting tutorial from the new White Dwarf as well...

Took me some time to finish him it seems. Suffering from a cold for the most of last week didn\'t help either.

I\'ll have to do some touch up and basing but he is essentially done. Please help me spot any mistakes or anything that needs refining before basing him.

I think it\'s oficially finished and ready for varnishing now! I reworked the eyes and did some minor touch ups. Any last minutes suggestions?

just to be picky: a few red glazes on the flesh, and another highlight on the blue pipe:p
but other than that, very nice peice, and a very clever idea

Really great piece, particularly like the metallics but an overall good effective conversion.

Is this a member of a retinue that we may see more of?

@ hestan: Any sugestions about where I should concentrate the glazes on the face? Should I glaze the whole face or focus on selected areas?

@Cleezy: It\'s not a retinue per se but at the moment I have several henchmen and other =I= related models undercoated and ready to paint. If and when I paint them all they may form a retinue. ;) Basicaly I\'m just a big fun of the Inquisition and paint a lot of =I= related minis.
