I don't think the real issue is about predjudice or passing judgement here. Nor particularly finding little girls sexually attractive.
I agree in part with what Chern says about giving these girls the responsibility. Although it gals me that these kids are, in fact, trying too hard to grow up. The biggest fact of the matter is that they are in no way mentaly equipped to even fully comprehend the full nature of it all. In fact it doesn't go much further than "If I dres like this i'll get more respect like that woman off the tv, and maybe joe will like me". What it does do, is seemingly create a fake bubble around these people. A bubble in which the kid becomes quite possibly too sure of themselves, and therefore more vunerable. Which, i'm sure anyone will agree is never a good thing for a kid.
I don't particularly think a childhood is a modern invention, there is a time to be a child and do the things that children do. I'm sure pretty much everyone here can look back and think "Ah, y'know what, maybe good old ma did know better than I did back then", without exeption i'm sure. These kids, by their actions and their struggle to be more like their elders, emulating TV, magazine models etc just seem to have this "I know better, i'm grown up now!" misguided conception amplified.
I can tell you that misconception landed me in hot water when I was growing up, and I was under no real illusion I was an adult by full account. When these people hit the teens the defication is going to hit the ocsilation in a grand fashion.
I am sure that everyone coudl agree that seeign little boys dressed like anime sluts woudl be pretty damned disturbing as well. This is NOT a gender equality issue. Fashion companies know exactly what they are doign when they make and market this stuff. They are objectifying little girls fro a profit. The parents who allow this crap are absolutely insane! It is NOT cute! This crap teaches little girls to make sexual objects of themselves to garner the attention of their peers. Pure and simple.

Not necessarily. We should be grown up enough to differ between interest and perversity. Its not a mistake to ask for a picture as long as the intention is to get deeper informed on the problem, since I can totally assume that not all people are used to the look we describe here. Any other intention though could be problematic.

Yeah, looking trashy might be the point. Some kids are in such a desperate rush to grow up, or 'grow up'.
Very disturbing regardless... we could bring in to the discussion some of the clothing and over-the-top makeup they wear routinely in children's beauty pageants too, which I think are hideously inappropriate.

You make good points Tercha...but this last sentence is the reason people seem so up in arms about it. Society as a whole (in the western world) has increasingly 'sexified' little girls.
While we all know that you don't judge a book by it's cover, in reality it happens all the time. People react to how you are dressed, fair or not.

Yet when was the last time you saw a 12yo boy wearing a pair of tight leather pants with a padded cod piece? Or a v necked shirt with simulated chest hair?
I can't think of any clothes right off hand that are supposed to make a boy look older, or sexier, or "enhance" certain body features. It's as if only the girl is a sex object.
And in a backwards sort of way, I think I just reinforced your point. That or men remain little boys, wearing T-shirts their whole life.

seems like a lot of finger pointing at the wrong people if you ask me. go ahead and turn that thing around. the fashon industry/pop culture are not the problem, parents are. they have the authority and the means to censor what their children have access to. someone is buying those little girls whore like outfits, and someone is letting them put them on before they go out in public. its no surprize that many of them are chubby either - both signs of bad parenting.
and tercha & averlorn , you arguements are kinda dumb. these are not adults, or sexually mature (ha!) teenagers even, but preteen little girls. they dont know what sexuallity is. they are not wearing sexually provacative clothing that is clearly reminicent of adult erotica as a reflection of their sexual freedom, they are wearing clothing which is similar to that of their adult idols (ugh); it is inappropriate socially (you'd be hard pressed to find a stripper wearing some of those cloths in public), and potentially psychologically damaging.

Worth a watch, I don't like the conspiracy theory narration particularly (tongue in cheek though it is) but there are some interesting facts/sequences. Accepting that the millions upon millions that companies have spent learning how to suck money out of our pockets has had an effect on each of us is the most pertinent point. The fact that so many people think they are unaffected just makes us easier to exploit
