It's snowing again :D

A few cm's snow here. What I don't get is why we are so useless at dealing with snow in the UK? A few cm's of snow and everything grinds to a halt, yet in many countries they have heaps more snow and they don't suddenly grind to a halt. stupid...

-10 to -15 during the day here. I LOVE it! :D
When I'm up north I usually enjoy the cold as well. When the air is dry it's just a matter of dressing warm enough, and you're ok. With the moist sea air we have here, the cold creeps under your clothes whatever you're wearing. Warm clothes help a bit, of course, but you will still freeze. I still enjoy a bit of winter, though, as the alternative is cold and rainy, instead of cold and snowy.

@ritual: Scary part is that i'm directly west of you, if I'm higher north then it's just by a few km...

@chrome
Maybe so, but you're far from the sea. I'm not sure what being so close to a big lake, as Karlstad is, does to the climate, but I don't think you get the same cold winds as from the ocean.

Where I'm at it is rather dry. Closer to the harbour it is quite moist still though. But I live on the other side of town and at the highest point to boot.

Here the air is moisty wherever you go. Don't know how far from the coast you need to go to get away from the moist, but it's quite a distance.

starts to get snowy here too and the air is actually quite dry right now for beeing gothenburg, even if its darn cold i prefer that to the usual slush.

but i look forward to the spring now, really...

Even though the weather sucks sometimes, I do like the variety of Swedish weather (at least down here in the south and middle). After a cold, snowy (or cold, wet) and dark winter you really appreciate spring and summer!

Fran & I travelled up to Newcastle on Friday (hence why I've been missing) Got to Stainmore on the A66 road and the car's external temperature gauge registered it at -5.5 Degrees Celcius, the windscreen washers froze up and with the amount of salt spray being kicked up it was a little "Hairy" driving.
Travelled back down today without problem.

Looks as if "The Toon" actually had the better part of the weather for a change.

I payed my mate to drive me to ashbourne the other night, was the first time he had driven in snow and the a52 to ashbourne isnt exactly the best road for night driving anyway :) Especially the massive hill at the end :p

All for a crap night in which I nearlly got stabbed anyway :/

Crappest party ever

I think you do it as an attachment, rather then using [img ] tags.
And that kinda looks like a snakes track. Or more likely a stick under the snow :D

Marc

Don't think we have snakes around this time of year, and not a stick either, that area has melted now and there's nothing there, weird

Well, it was snowing when I walked home at 23:00 last night & is snowing now, just walked up to the bus station & it's a blummin' Saturday service, first is at 9:10! I may yet get to work today, I have pressies both for me & others stashed there :) At least only 1 car at the pedestrian crossing on the dual-carraigeway slid straight over it! I shall venture forth again after this cuppa :D

Happy Christmas Eve, shivery B.

Probably not, but in my defense, I wrote that reply before realising you were in Kent :D
