Maenas>> Interesting,.. you're the 2nd person to say that. Funny thing is, I see shadows everywhere in the white.(wonder if it's a monitor differential thing?) And in person, the model is starting to look "dirty" because of it. So then... to push the shadows further,.. or not?? The guy also said he sees no skin shading, but I see lots,......hrmm,.. interesting,..
That's the toughest part of presenting minis online - not only do you have to have a degree in photography to get a good pic, but someone else's monitor may show things differently.

Maybe a difference with the "auto-correct" function I use to clean up the colors??,.. let me post one with and without the correction and see what you guys think,.. (also changed the background color to see if it helps the osl at all)

Post which ever is closer to what you see. That will be what you want your piece to represent. Just done photoshop the crap out if it until its nothing like real life o_O CC and removing random cat hairs is cool, but try to get your pics as close to real life when you take them so you don;t have to do much fixing in post. Like painting it takes time, but saves you on the back end :)

posted it into the gallery. 7 votes in and the score has already droppd to 6.9,.. seems I'm doomed to be stuck at my usual 6-7pt rating. I was hoping to push for an 8 with this one. *Le-sigh*,... either that,.. or the snipers are just killing me,..

I also think second is better, although the whites on the shoulder are a bit burned. I also like the background, it gives a better godlike heaven appearance ^^
I can imagine the source of the problem... as your mini wears all white clothes they reflects the light a lot so will be hard to take a good picture of it.
I would follow Zab's advice of chosing the closest picture to what your eyes see.

PD. did not see your post, I was writing this one xD going to vote... ;)

Here is where I am at..... I just stripped the face because trying to improve her gaze it just went worse....:doh!::doh!:
I am getting used to scale colours little by little and I've found that adding a drop of vallejo glazing medium helps me to get a better result with them. This miniature is the first time I make extensive use of the opposed colours on the colour wheel to make shadows and to turn off the original brightness of a given colour, previously I just did it by adding a darker colour of the same range or black to the mix :glasses-nerdy:.

I think it's coming along splendidly. The silver armor and helmet came out well. When I first saw the model, I somehow always pictured gold. But the silver really works.

Dude, you should totally do her face like its a ceramic mask o_O She looks creepy as hell with her face stripped like that.

More basecoating. Wanted a cooler color to offset all the warm browns. It's gonna be tight, but I still hope to be done before the 1st.

@maenas: i like what you have so far, especially the hair, cloak, and the scale armor. Funny, but the stripped face looks like a steel mask making it kind of creepy.

You can do a montage,.. but try to keep it on the smallish side, like what maxx did with the 4 angles in one photo. Try not to go "over the top" with your montage/image placement,... if that makes sense. Again,... we're trying to keep it simple for the voters and not make them view 10 bazillion photos.

I think I have to bow out....

No pics working....only 85% done with little time left to paint....

...I should have known better, but I've had fun trying...I'll post something when I get things figured out...
