Thanks! Yeah I have an exotic woods shop near me and sometimes I wonder in and find cool stuff. Looks like lots of bright colors in my near future :)

Khonner sent me some of that Dark African wood and it's lovely. Based my last project on some. I'm not sure, but I don't think mine is that light colored if cut into tho like yours appeared. It's some hard, hard wood, and Khonner warned not o get a splinter with it. I couldn't find any exotic wood, or even non-exotic in the right sizes, in my general area so it was a great gift.

If you are interested in exotic wood bases I got an info for you guys. I get mine from this shop: http://www.edelholzverkauf.de/index.php?language=en&MODsid=078ac33e2f0e0e1ec60c76accc5d557f
I'm not sure if they sent overseas, but it has great service. You can also buy a box full of different small samples, that would otherwise be thrown away, but are great for miniature painter use.

Furthermore I would recommend to get a small piece of olive wood, that smell is incredible good!! Like flower or red wine! :)

So I won an OOP model from GW's Inquisitor game Damien 1427 at my local hobby meeting, and was wondering if this qualifies for the monster category... looks pretty monsterous to me ;)

Also, I was wondering if I could use Saint Celestine from GW as a "goddess" model if the Damien model doesn't work. From what I've read, Celestine is a living Saint that has been touched by the Emperor... If either work, please let me know. Thanks!

yeah,.. I don't see why not. Like I said, we usually have pretty loose rules as far as what qualifies. And even if they didn't fit, or if someone didn't have access to other models due to shipping time constraints and/or lack of proper funds to acquire something new (hey,.. we aren't all made of money, and I totally get that),..I'd rather you guys compete with something that doesn't fit, rather then not compete at all.

while I mostly agree with WM, but please try to be in the guidelines. So for the Anime comp, you can already select/order the figure you'd like to paint, so as not to be in the position, when it's ordered, but not arrived yet.

I can appreciate that and can see how my comment was a bit too nonchalant. I meant that I was excited that it does not require the dedicated purchase of a mini and the spirit of the competition is to paint, rather than compete...I have numerous anime oriented figures, but casual events draw me, and I was expressing a commitment, not a reason to paint "just anything."

Well, I guess I'm going with St. Celestine since I see her more as a demigod. Can't wait until this competition starts.

Correct,.. we always want you to be "in-bounds" whenever possible. I mean that if the stated topic is "flesh tones" for example, then I don't care what sort of flesh tones you produce. It can be a regular flesh tone figure,.. or a grey skinned dark elf,.. or a green skinned orc,.. etc, etc, etc. You could even make a case for painting a dragon, since it's scales (while not technically "skin") are still part of it's "flesh". All of these would be variations on flesh tones. Trying to submit a 40K space marine land raider tank, however, would be "out of bounds" since it has no flesh to paint. But yes,.. the point of all this is in the spirit of painting rather then competition, and it also serves as a venue for people to meet and talk on the forums to people that you might otherwise never have engaged in any meaningful way, and for us all to help each other with comments and critiques.

Hey, would this be allowed? Fauns are mythological, and kinda related to gods and monsters, but the mini isn't really godly or monstery itself...
