Did you use the vallejo "metal medium" colour for that effect? If yes, I think this is a colour you have to dilute very very much and it doesn't look great used purely. I always mix it with other paints. If you going to do glazes you can mix it in to get a metallig effect.
As you have already a shiny tunica you could use this very shiny coat as base coat and do subtle layers of glazes over them (without adding the medium). I would go for blue ice-blue ones, just make sure not to make it look neon. Maybe some white glazes too. Thone it down a bit, imho.
The Vallejo Metal medium gives a great shine, even behind many layers. I always use it to paint translucent looking wings for a little shiny effect.
